Survivor Nick Skin Purple and Black (how to fix)?
I'm having an issue with what his skin looks like in First Person View, it looks purple and black. I don't know how this happened. Everyone else is OK. Before I go on any further, This is my first time dealing with this kind of issue. I'm a new PC gamer and all this talk about editing vtf vtm vpk stuff is above my head. I've downloaded GCScape or whatever that crap is called, I don't know how to use it. I've read that it's to be used in conjunction with vpk.exe, I don't even know what that stuff is, I couldn't locate it. So, would it be wise, to uninstall the game, delete all of it's files, install it again and maybe that'll fix it? I'm not even sure if this discussion is in the right section. I don't own L4D1, and a lot of the tutorials on how to fix the problem, use those files along with the L4D2 files. L4D2 is all I have. I doubt my computer type adds any relevance. It's an ASUS G750, maybe the files are located differently or it works differently? I doubt it.

Is the item a mod your trying to do or is it the default because if it is the default nick all skins for any survivor is located in Steam\SteamApps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\ then look for scroll down to pak01_dir.vpk open that in gcf

once you do that go to material -> models -> survivor-> gambler will so all textures for nick

vtf are the actual textures and the vmt only tell where the textures are located to find the vtf files

First off, are you using any mods? If so, that mod is missing texture files for the viewmodel. Try disabling it or deleting it.
If you aren't using any mods, verify the integrity of your game cache files from the library. (Right-click on Left 4 Dead 2, select Properties, then Local Files, then Verify Integrity of...) This could take a while, so be prepared. What this will do is check the files on your computer against the files on Steam's database, which will find any corrupted/missing files and re-download them.
