Creating New Horde Sounds.

Hi, I'm new to the modding community but I'm eager to try my hand at making a simple sound replacement mod. When i thought of the idea, i confess I had no idea how to execute it but after some research it became a lot clearer and with some time i felt confident enough to try it on my own.

However, I have run into a wall... I wanted to replace the theme of the Horde (not the incoming attack! sound) but i'm having trouble locating it in my /sound/ files. What I have been seeing are small 5 seconds bits that I assume the game uses to generate the horde theme live? I couldnt really find anthing longer than 30 seconds anywhere in the files. (except for the radio songs)

I tried websearching, thinking someone would have identified what songs are for the horde, and on what level-- but that came up short as well.

Is this more complicated than it seems?

As far as I know, the music that plays when a horde is attacking is dynamically created from different sets of quick sound clips. You would have to replace all of those stings in order for it to work properly. Also note that certain campaigns have their own overlaid horde stings as well (violins in Swamp Fever, trumpets in The Parish) that will play even if you replace the default horde themes.

I'm pretty sure the file folder you want is the sound/music/zombat folder. If you need an example mod, I believe this one will be a decent demonstration; http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=19495 You can use GCFScape ot open it up and see how things work.

I see what you're saying. Do you think if i replaced all the overlaid horde sounds (like drums and violins) with another sound, it would work in the same mannor? I would have never figured that the Horde theme was being generated dynamically, but it makes sense. To be honest, i'm not sure what i want to do can be done in replacement with the horde-- I figured it would be as simple as the Tank's theme, but obviously I was wrong.
