How mods work in co-op?
So I just downloaded the game to play with my friend (FREE DOWNLOAD PLAYER! KILL HIM!) and he said that downloading mods won't allow me to play with him on co-op if he has a clear game. Is it true? Or can I download everything I want?

BURN THE FREE PLAYER! *Ahem*

Almost all mods are client-side. They only affect your game. Which means, most of the time, you can use whatever you want. There are two server settings you have to look out for, though. The first is consistency (sv_consistency in the developer console). If this is set to active (sv_consistency 1) then the server will check your game's files, and if your files don't match those on the server, it will kick you. This happens a lot with Infected mods or on local servers.

The second is purity (sv_pure in the console), which, when set to active (sv_pure 1), will disable all mods and you'll be playing bone-stock L4D2.
