Yes, open console with the ~` key then type map.
Then use the arrows to filter through all the maps available to you.
This will make a "listen server" that cannot be viewed by anyone but you.
I know this is an old thread, but I am having this issue as well. I don't know how to start custom campaign from console. I have googled it and looked here and this all I could find. I don't know how to start any campaign and then change level. I also don't get a list of maps when I type map or map*. I tried using the campaign name, but it doesn't bring it up. I can start any Valve campaign with console, but not custom or at least not specific custom. Sometimes random stuff will come up. Can anyone answer this or just point me to a link that explains it? Thanks

You need to do as said:
map customlevelnamehere

The thing is that you need the internal name of that chapter, rather than the name of the whole campaign.
for example you don't type "map Dead Center", you have to type "map c1m1". If you wanted the Dead Center finale, you would type "map c1m5"

There is no naming convention for custom campaigns, so you will often have to guess, or scroll through the available options, or check in the addon files, or ask the author.

One more thing: if you want something other than coop, then you need need to type the gamemode as well. For example "map mapname surivial" or "map mapname versus"

If you're lucky the map makers use the map title, although it's sometimes prefixed with l4d2 (or l4d if it's a ported map), or they use some kind of numbering system. l4d_yama, sa_01, sa_02 etc.

Sometimes they assign unique map names to the chapters which makes it difficult to guess.
Warcelona uses this I think.

If you go through the console sometimes you can find the chapter name.

Usually if it's not evident by map name you can get the info from the decompiled vpk file

Read the discussion an hour ago.
I do not get it out of my head now. Because I feel as if I had struck a lantern.

The first thought:
"What, why do these people feel the need to load the maps via the console? That's Nonsense!"
(You certainly have good reasons, and I just do not know them)

The second thought:
"Oh, ungracious gods, do I have to make sure that my card names have a logical origin?"
I find it bad enough that I have to "translate" my ideas into a binary system. With so much brain work to do I take the liberty to name my maps according to my mood. Quasi as a compensation: Any map name (with no connection) against 2 billion hours of logical programming.

And honestly, I do not want to give up this fancy.
So, for the protocol: on what occasions do you have to start maps via console?

If you're trying to play single player in non-campaign (e.g. mutation, realism, etc) then you'll want to use the console. (map sa_01 realism) . You'll also want to use the console when changing maps in a server. sm_map sa_01

It's more like the chapter titles, you know? Like the individual file names for each chapter. If you can guess it's pretty easy. Even without guessing if you're using the console for locally available maps the meaning will at least be easy to see.

map coolmap1
map l4d2_coolmap1
map coolmap_1

etc

Aha, thanks.
So far I thought the console is just the staff entrance. And it will be "walled" as soon as the campaign is finished. I did not think that other people than the creators were looking for these entrances, but now there is a reason why they should be described accordingly.

If you want to do anything that requires sv_cheats 1, then you need to start from the console.

I always start custom maps from the console so that I can teleport bots if they get stuck or change the difficulty on the fly. Also, so I can disable the director, if I want to explore an area in peace.

Hihi,
now I am convinced that the the console isn't the servants' entrance only. It is very useful and often frequented. From now on I will use "logic names".
