Addons automaitcally re-enabling themselves?
ive been having an annoying issue with Addons; no, they're not crashing my game (even when they do, i can usually figure out which ones are causing issues)

Instead, everytime i boot up L4D2, i wait like 5 minutes for the "ADDONS" option in the main menu to finish loading and install any new mods i subscribed to.

however, for some reason, the mods i disable everytime i play ALWAYS re-enable themselves automatically everytime, forcing me to disable all 200 of them again and again

does anyone know how to prevent this from happening? its starting to irritate me that the game wont remember which Addons i enabled or disabled :/

Get rid of Workshop and use http://www.gamemaps.com/l4d2/ for all your addons. This elimates ALL Workshop issues.

It happens to me when my computer disconnects from the internet. Since all the workshop items are only usable through internet connection. No connection means no mods. And when the computer reconnects, the workshop has to redownload from the workshop. and since the workshop automatically acivates on download... there is your problem. dont disconnect from the internet :D

Get rid of Workshop and add mods from gamemaps.com. Problem solved. I gave Workshop a chance when it came out. Way too many issues for me. In theory, it's a great idea. It fails in application in many ways though.

thanks for all of your feedback guys!

would i just need to download the files from L4Dmaps.com or gamemaps.com and drop them into L4D2's "addons" file, because i am NOT a big fan of having to move, copy/paste, and delete very specific files that could break the game just for the sake of a weapon conversion or a new campaign

im especially refering to mods for games that either need new .exe files to RUN on a newer OS (such as Max Payne, Manhunt, etc.) or aren't mod supported (such as Sonic Generations), but the community still attempts to with confusing guides on how to install them (if you understand what im getting at)

L4D2 is specifically designed to be modded via VPK addon files. I do not have a single mod or know of one that adds or changes an EXE file. Just download the mods you want from Gamemaps.com. Open them and copy the VPK file to your ADDONS directory. If you no longer want to use Workshop mods (my recommendation) unsubscribe from them. Then look in the ADDONS/WORKSHOP directly and if there are files in there, delete them.
