Abuse by players from Russian Federation
Just came from L4D1 to the 2nd one, hoping that thing would change, but no. As in the 1st one I see russian playes on almost every server, and it would be just fine if they wouldn't kick everyone else. When I joined the lobby there were 3 guys from russia in the team, so they kicked me, because I was not (I know the russian language but I just didn't bother to speak with them) I then connected again but went to the other team and there was also a lot of name calling in russian from their side, and I saw the guys doing the same to other players as well. And if someone joined from Russia then they would just continue playing.
Do you consider this normal?

I've played with Russians before and they helped me get better at this game, unfortunately I couldn't play with them much because of latency from distance issues. If all the players you're encountering are like this, try playing on non steam group servers since that's where players from other continents and countries tend to play together.
I guess I would have some latency issues if I played on some US servers if I'm from Europe, right?
Usually the russians are the most fun to play with.. But if its like this a lot for you just get some friends to play with? (:

My friends are broke :D
While many reforms made during the Putin presidency have been generally criticized by Western nations as un-democratic, Putin's leadership over the return of order, stability, and progress has won him widespread popularity in Russia.

On 2 March 2008, Dmitry Medvedev was elected President of Russia, whilst Putin became Prime Minister. Putin returned to the presidency following the 2012 presidential elections, and Medvedev was appointed Prime Minister.

How is this relevant?
I was about to ask the same thing. But thanks for the history lesson.
What I have heard there is majority of russian population in some areas who would like to see the end of the maddness over their leadership but as long as they are in controll, there is not much to do about it... Putins "democraric" rule reminds me a lot about Russia ruled by Stalin... But about russian player kickers: that happens to me and my pals a lot too. Bad thing is that as we live in Finland (neighbour to Russian Federation) we are in the same major server area so we can't do squat about the fact we have to play a lot with them. I have thought many times that people should gather names (or steam profiles) together to appeal to Steams executive programmers to block russian players from using same servers as rest of the Europe, at least in L4D2... Then again, that would be nearly as democratic and equal act as Putins rule, wouldnt it? On the flip side, I have met bunch of nice russian players who I like to play with :)

(PS. don't you just hate those russian KIDS playing L4D2 and screaming to their microphones with their high-pitched voices... It IS not-for-under-18-years-of-age -game after all...)

I'd say kids simply. Russian kids (and their pitched voice) do not differ than kids from any other country. A kid is a kid and an annoyance in the game no matter what his nationality is. But since you bring the democracy in this thread let me say something.

As for Putin, obviously that your statmemt will be subjective since your country was invaded by Russia (to prevent you from helping Germans which Finland obviously would have done and since it is located near important Russian cities that may be attacked by Germans through Finland territory). You sure are not going to say how they are a great people and how Putin is a nice guy. (Here we exclude the fact that it is always the Russia who has been invaded first in its history and it goes back to Napoleon). Just because he has an anti-western approach (because Americans want to control all) unlike your government, it does not make him less democratic. It is not because a few hundred people walk into the street against him (♥♥♥♥♥ Riot and their supporters), that this automatically means he is not democratic. The important thing is that he is liked by the majority of the population (isn't that what democracy is about), because you will never be able to satisfy everyone as a leader. At least he has brought stability and prosperity to Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union.

A lot of americans hated George W. Bush as well (he had a second mandate as well as Putin, where is the problem), but you never heard anyone say he was anti-democratic in the media. Obama barely won the election (almost half of population did not vote for him) yet no one says it is not a democracy (except for mad republicans). In fact, American government and his western european puppets have done more anti-demoratic actions in the past 50 years than anyone else on the planet in the name of "democracy". Just because they say that they go to Irak to "free those people" and "bring democracy" there doesnt not make it true. And in the first place, who said they needed american democracy and who decided this, and with what legitimacy. (They go because Sadam has weapons of mass dectruction yet they did not find any, oops?...and what about Israel and its nuclear weapons? It is more of a threat to peace than any country in the world). American government acts as they wish with and under the cover of NATO and United Nations to make it look as, what they are doing, is the wish of every other country and it is right. Same goes for Syria, and they would be there by now if it was only Russia who opposed itself to a military intervention, but since China used the veto as well now they aren't as sure to go. But after all, who has invaded the most countries and colonized the globe? It is the western europeans and modern America. And they want to give lessons to others now, about what to do? Please.

Democracy is a relative term depending on your conception of the society. For some people, western democracy (representative) is just an illusion of democracy because the power of the people is only restricted to the VOTE. After the vote, the population is not, or is rarely, consulted. Decisions are made in the name of the population without them necessarily knowing or being in favor of them. The main stream media and its propaganda can make, an average and politically unnsophisticated person, believe whatever they want to win their sympathy (and we all know that this kind of people is the majority). You might think your are free, but in reality you are not. Public opinion and comformity shapes everyday life.

Of course Russia is not perfect, it has been a monarchy since its whole existance, then became communist for the most part of the 20th century. It only started to become democratic before not even 20 years. They cannot adapt to it right away. The fact that Putin has a strict speech against America and does not have to obey to it (like most countries do) makes him look as antidemocratic...but only to them. I am sure that most world leaders would say the same thing about Americans if they had the power and authority that Putin has. Russia may be weak compared to U.S. but it is not Irak that you can invade as you wish and think it will be OK. Their ballistic missiles may not be as precise as the american techonolgy, but does it really matter if a 100 megaton nuclear bomb lands in or 30 km away from New York?

P.S. The same could be said for Chavez in Venezuela. That guy brought more democracy to its country with his reforms than anyone ever before him. But then again, since he has oil and nationalized it by expulsing american big companies from exploiting it, so he can use the money for social programs for his population, American media will portray him as being anti-democratic and as someone who should be replaced by a more democratic man (aka someone who will do what is more in the American interest). At least Chavez has never made a decision without making a referendum about it first, which is more of a democracy than the representative one.

The big problem is that people base 80% of their knowledge on what they see on television and they truly think that is really how it is happening. Most people won't read a book, a scientific journal or article, to widen their knowledge on a certain matter. If television said "Chinese are bad and want to dominate the world" then it must be true. Therefore, let's hate the chinese.

2nd P.S.:
"What I have heard there is majority of russian population in some areas who would like to see the end of the maddness over their leadership "

Exactly what I stated above. You say a majority of population...and then say in some areas. If a village has 100 people, and 90 are against Putin, it does make it the majority of the population of that village, but not the population of the entire Russian Federation. These are the words the media will use too to play with people's minds. This does not prove that the president is not democratic, it just proves that some people are against him (as it is the case in any country with their leader)

Sorry for my english, it is my 3rd language only and I tend not to write/speak it very well. Oh and I am not Russian in case you thought so.

Ok, right now I have to apologize enZo for going this far off from original topic of this discussion page :D As for beEZ, your english seems pretty good. Even more so if it's your 3rd language.
What comes to your reply, it would seem you're either academic person or otherwise very well informed. You have many good arguments and you really care to write that long comment, yet it seems pretty aggressive towards my comment.

I did not meant to attack russians alltogether with my comment, I just hate to play L4D2 with majority of them... I really don't have energy to write 14 pages about this topic like you did but I really think about these topics and don't just write random trash up. I am not an ignorant person. I do know lots of history of mankind as well as human psychology and way of politics and ways of government. I really don't trust that Putin plays it too fair. If there is way to change election results, why wouldnt he? As he said himself: "I will be President as long as I like".

And about that russians attacked Finland just to prevent us or Nazis attacking there via here; we allied ourselves with Germany because we had to: much larger force invaded us. We gladly would have liked to stay out of the freaking war. We just got our independency, why risk it?

Oh, and I'm not that fond of democracy. They say communism does not work; well, democracy isn't a perfect solution either.
Their own server and separated from other country that's all.
played with a few russians. minus the fact we didn't speak same language, we had ok teamwork. since a smoker pul or hunter pounce is the same in every language.

plus, they gave me pills when i needed them.. for that.. i am thankful. XD
I am from Latin America, and I don't like to play with latin americans.

Most of the time, they are selfish, as in there are 4 medkits in the safe room, right? so what do you do, heal up and take another one, of course!.

Too many times it happened to me that I take my time to get to the safe room just to find that two guys took all of the medkits. Nowdays, if I decide to play with latin people, I f*cking rush to the safe room, but I only use one medkit.

I just played a game with latin americans half an hour ago, and did just that, help out the noob (which god forbid the other two should do, I mean, hell, they left him way behind like 4 times, and I had to defib him at least twice, and one of them knew about defibrilators, because as soon as he died he asked for "defi") and rush like hell to the safe room. Luckily I noticed their computers/conection took longer to load each level, which gave me time to heal myself, heal the noob, and keep one extra medkit (which I would use on whoever really needed it, I play fair, unlike them).

During the finale I actually went back for said noob, and the most selfish one there was incapped, I just left him there, ha ha. I was 100% sure he wouldn't have gone for me. It's a relatively small community, you see a lot of the same names often.

Oh yeah, the problem with russians. Try steam community servers, it's where I play online most of the time. It's a b!tch that comunity servers mean modded servers, but most of the time I'd rather. There are russians there too, but they are not bad, at least, I've never had an issue with anybody in a steam group.... even latin people!, it's like steam groups filter the worst of the worst, and I knew beacause some of these steam groups tell you where people are from.

The latin americans that play in steam groups, in my experience have been decent players, taking the fair amount of medkits (which doesn't always mean much, some of these have unlimited items, so if you can pick one from a table, you can pick as many as you want), and not just ditching every chance they get. Say you are in gray, and someone has a medkit, that person will probably heal you.

I generally have only little trouble with Russian players - and I have some in almost every game. Occasionally there is misunderstandings since I do not speak nor read Russian but them kicking me is rare.
