Completely disagree. I always play on expert from a public lobby. You do get some idiots, of course, and these days the standard of player is very poor compared to when L4D2 was first released, but even so there are some reasonable players about. You may have to carry them a bit, but they aren't too bad.
1) Play with people on my friends list.
2) Block bad players that I come across so that I'll never get placed with them again.
Not much else you can do. It's online gaming, and that's just the nature of the beast.
