Mods... why play a game that cheats.
LOL I'm going to catch so much fire over this, but why bother to a game map for Left 4 Dead 2 with mods? It's just a cheap way to cheat at how you play, making it almost impossible to play a decent game. What's worse is that those who join random games with mods (like myself) get kicked, or teased, by morons who think they are better players than anyone else.

It's not getting me down so much as just annoying me. It's just wrong that people sit and get so competative in a versus game when they add mods that make it almost impossible to win a match anyway. LOL. Oh well, at times, for every one mod-game, there are two regular games to be played like real gamers.

Define mods.
Yes I do! Sep 6, 2012 @ 11:02pm
If there are mods you dont like, then leave. If you like the mods enough to stay, then dont complain about them constantly.

If you leave and dont complain then you wont get teased, and if you are useless you will get kicked, but you will get kicked in l4d for being useless anyway.

Some people mod the game because l4d is just too easy as standard. If both teams have players who arent braindamaged then they will both reach the saferoom purely because of the fact the survivors are semi indesctructable monsters in vanilla l4d.

That's a great place to discuss Left 4 Dead 2. :)

Mods as in where a player custom-adds special types of weapons and command codes for them, or special codes where they can instantly heal, gain health packs, or anything like that.

You've got me there, about it being a little vanilla. However, if the teams are on equal playing fields, then there's always a sporting chance for one team to win over the other. Usually I do leave the mod-games before I even get a chance to spawn, but today, I just got so annoyed with them that it's I boiled over. Take one mod-game I almost started, for example: four tanks, each with different added abilities all after the other team, and yes tank are slow and sometimes easily killed, but with these added mod-abilities, they were fast, jumped higher and all of that, so where is it that that was a game that gave anyone a sporting chance to win? Or another one, the one that through me over the edge today LOL, I had gotten a survivor-player down, incapacitated him, yet the minute I let go to move on to the next survivor, the downed player was up and fully healed.
Add in new, more interesting weapons. That I'm all for. Just don't make it so you're cheating just to win a few matched. LOL like anything, a little spice is nice, too much and it's just not tollerable any more.

Let me also add that I know I am not, in any way, some amazing, awesome, great player. I have good days and bad days. Oh well, but when people take the games too far, to sit and cus at player just because they aren't living up to their teammate's expectations and either put them down or kick them, well that's just childish. It's like when a kid and a pair of his friends won't let the new kid in school play with them because he's just that, the new kid.

For those types of players who may end up reading this and start snickering to themselves, or what have you, just grow up. Get over your selves. Accept that it's just a game for EVERYONE to enjoy, and not for you to lord over becuase you're a little better at it than others.

No there really isnt any way for one team to win over the other in vanilla l4d2 if both teams are even semi capable.

In l4d1 you could because you could fudge the system for a quadcap, but that isnt something you can do in l4d2 so the survivors (assuming they have even a basic grasp of the game) can make it to the saferoom even when wildly outclassed by the other team.

I don't know. Why do people cheat in any form? The entire point of L4D is that it's a coop, yet people very often compete. Personally, I think the worst thing they did was to add a score to L4D. Scores turn people competative. Some people have to win, and will do anything. They don't care how they win, they just want to win. They foolishly think that people will think better of them. I mean the number of nerds who publish vidoes on "how well they play", and who actually cares? No one. Most character levelling seems to be aimed at people who can't win by skill, but can by pure hours played. It's all very sad really.

Not entirely true. If the team playing as infected have some concept of coopperation with others, they know to attack as a team. One survivor may make it out, but that's just one. Same as playing as survivor, to get all teammates to the safe room, you have to work together. Like I said above, I'm not in any way a great player, but there are some (playing as survivor) who just run off and leave their team, or those who who have teams that just leave players behind, all of which get other teammates killed in the game by doing so.

Like I also said, there are times where regular "vanilla" L4D2 isn't challenging enough for players, so certain mods are added that are okay. Like being able to choose your infected instead of it being random, or having faster reloading of abilities and weapons, even knewer weapon types. All of which is okay. BUT, when the mods give you instant access to adrenalin shot, pain pills, heath packs or even instant health and revivng after being brought down, now that's just cheating. Left 4 Dead 1&2 are coop survival horror games. You get random supplies here and there to make do. Being able to type in a code to get what you want, WHEN you want it, is taking the fun out of the game.

LOL I know what you mean. In some of those videos you even hear the players talking so much trash against their oposing teams that's it's just sad and funny at the same time. Or the players for things like MMORPGs, where they have spent so many hours building up characters, getting epic gear, and so on and so forth, that anyone they see who has low level gear they call a nood, make fun of and all around alienate, where as they themselves where in the position once. LMAO it's not the "Noob's" fault that they actually have a life and can't spend 30-40+ hours a week playing a game to boost past the average players.

Mods are what you make them, ♥♥♥♥, if a Muli million dollar coorporation DIDNT want you to be able to mod, then your couldnt. Trust me i can develop things myself and they could just set a unstandered encryption or whatever. So Basically get a game that people cant mod, or just stop giving thought to it

Well, in a way you're kind of right. But even if the company didn't want players to add or make mods for it, I'm sure some clever, deviant, hacker-type players would find a way to mod a game some way, some how. But get a game that people can't mod? If you mean find a game on the server, then yeah, and I always try to. But if you meant to buy a game, then why should people miss out on the actual fun of a game all together because people want to tweek a game so that they never lose?
owenkimbrell Sep 7, 2012 @ 6:21pm
Well, because people are ♥♥♥♥♥♥s. And yea they should stop. I modded mw2 for a while but just got board. People are never going to "stop" or anything because it makes them the best, and people like being the best. Just ask them to not mod or find a new game sorry mate
