what is wrong with the LFD community
there are too many ragers, ragequiters, people that kick you for no reason (even though you're doing better then them), etc... has anyone else noticed that the LFD community is awful

the good thing about rage quitters is you dont have to keep playing with them.

However. Some games punish rage quitting. Like temporary ban for a certain amount of days. L4D 2 does not.

You mean the block system. I guess that is a option. Just not a option that solves the root problem though.

I think it's a bad community for another reason. Players I meet in this game are straight-up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s to new players. And in a game based around team-work, many people don't bother with team-work. Doesn't make the game fun to play.

people kick you for having less then 100 hours of gameplay? and for other stupid reasons, that would never happen on other games

I have way too many hours on this game and yes, this game has the worst community I have ever experienced. Heads up though, this post may attract the trolls of L4D2 so be ready.

I've come across lots in my time, but there are the occasional player who likes to be kind and actually help out. If I had to vote, Left 4 Dead 1 would win over Left 4 Dead 2, based on community kindness.

Wow - why do you folks even play the game if you think "the community" is so bad? It's a LOT better than in the multiplayer environment in the Call of Duty games.

What many people seem to forget is this is a CO-OP game - I generally try to only play with "friends". I avoid playing the game with people who want to run off, start all the events and then curse you out for not being around because they got jockied, hunted, smoked, boomed, charged, etc. when they're off on another section of the game. But that's me - other people like to run thru the map as fast as they can while others like to take their time and examine the area before they move on. And then there's people who like to insult other players, kill them with mollies in saferooms, use multiple health packs and hog the experience as well as those who think it's ok to be racist, sexist and just plain juvenile. I de-friend anyone like that and block communication with them so I don't get into another game with them by accident. And since you don't really know what you're getting into when you agree to a public game I generally avoid those.

I don't mind playing with "newbies", especially if they let you know that they're new. But it's really frustrating playing with people who don't know the maps, don't know how to play as a team and are playing advanced or expert before they've completed the map in single player mode. So it's easier to play "friends-only" games and then make new friends of people your friends play with. It's really noticable after a Steam sale when there are lots of new players trying to play the game and don't understand what it's like to play as a team.

I think sometimes players forget what it was like when they were new to the game. And I mean NEW to it. Not even having experience in a similar kind of game.

I always try to be at least a tiny bit helpful to everybody I play with, but if they are just making an ♥♥♥ of themelves, I tend to leave them in whatever situation they find themselves in.
