Is the player counter lying?
Right now it says it has over 5,000 players online, yet I checked all game modes (campaign, versus, realism, and survival) and in total there are 3 active games. I think it's safe to assume there aren't 4,970 people in private rooms. So is the player counter legit? And if not, how does it work?

Have you heard about the community? There's a reason a lot of people prefer to play alone. Plus the ones who are away from their keyboards could be making themselves some food, IMing with friends (via Skype for example), or handling real-life situations.

That's because even if you see 10k of players, it's world wide. The lobby and servers based on the console commands only seeks players with less than 150ms when playing online.

Are you sure? I always play with Americans and I'm in 8 hours difference.
