Local Server never works
So I want to run a local server sometimes for add-on maps. My computer & internet are up for the task.

The only problem is it never works. Every time I run it, it kicks whoever was in the lobby and no one can ever join in. Everything else with the game works fine.

Please help!!!

Don't listen to Plagued. I've hosted a million local add on games succesfully.

Troubleshooting locally hosted maps, try these steps:

1. Disable ALL unnecessary mods (anything besides maps).

2. Load up a standard map (eg Dead Center) in a local hosted lobby, and before you start it enter sv_consistency 0 in the console

3. Start the game with the standard map. As soon as the map loads, call a vote to return to lobby and then change the map from there without leaving it.

I copy and pasted that from the vavle help center. Good job though

Have you played this game yet? There's an option to host locally each time you start a lobby.

I'll try that & report back.

I've just figured out the "sv_consistency 0" trick recently, so let me try it out

Just an update & to ping this covno back to the top. The sv_consistency thing doesn't really work. Any more suggestions?

Disable any gameplay/skin mods, use sv_consistency, and start a stock campaign map on local host and then return to lobby. Should work.

I'll give it a go.

I don't get why skin mods conflict though. Others have plenty of mods & run local servers with add-on maps perfectly fine.

I honestly have no idea how it works, but it's something that can conflict. When playing in Windows 7 I could host easily with all my mods running, but in Win 8 I have to disable everything so people can join. Even if your server isn't enforcing consistency, player mods that conflict with server mods can give you trouble. If you can host without your mods, you might just have to do that.
