wtf is going on with this game?

ok so i havent played this game very much because i can only get about 1 good game in per day before it starts crashing on load screens. i am playing on linux ubuntu 13.04 64bit and i know this has been an issue on windows machines. is this fixable? i want to play the game i bought not spend 45 seconds loading only to crash to desktop then restart l4d2 try to join another game just to sit and load and crash all over again.

already done the cache verification, this has happened ever since i've played the game online (i shut my pc off every night), i dont have the time for a complete re-install (350kbps = 8+ hours of nonstop dl with no other internet activity)
