I am having the same issue, but only in the first part of The Passing, as far as I am concerned, all of the other games I have on steam are working fine though.

Also, the first part of The Passing is the only part that it kicks me out of, i tried some other levels, didn't play them entirely, but they started fine. In online it did the same, also worth mentioning that it was in The Passing aswell.

Has any of you tried to verify game's cache? L4D2 is know to crash when you reinstall Windows.

The only possible issue with Win 8 compared to 7 would be the start menu / metro stuff. http://www.classicshell.net/ there, now windows 8 is superior.

That is so cute, it is almost funny.

Reminds me of sheep.

No, that is not the case - the fact is there is nothing on win 8 that makes me need to "downgrade", if i was "upgrading to win 8.xx" why would i need to use a 3rd party tool to fix something MS left out, the fact is win 8 seems faster for most ppl because it is a fresh install and it uses a hybrid boot mode which makes it appear faster when booting for the masses - apart from that the task mgr is better but still unecessary the UI is counterproductive and the copy function is a touch better, as for DX 11.1 and 11.2 tell me what game uses it where it makes a difference in real terms.

Like anything ppl who adopt early should understand there is caveats when doing so, the problem is sheep don't realise this and then come to forums asking why something is broken or nto working.

Win 8.xx is touch centric, if i wanted that i would use it on a tablet or a smartphone not a dekstop.

1. Regarding "sheep" - the vast majority people don't go out and buy Windows or choose which edition they want. Rather, it comes preinstalled on a system they buy. Nearly every system sold nowadays comes with Win 8. Downgrade rights are limited to some business and enterprise systems. Soon even people building their own systems won't be able to buy OEM copies of 7.

2. I'm not telling you to update to Windows 8. Use Win 7 - I literally couldn't care less. I built my own system and got Windows 8 for free from my university. I'm not going to spend ~$100 to change to Win 7. I would gain nothing (ClassicShell solves all UI issues) while losing money and the under-the-hood upgrades from win 8 (some of which you mentioned).

Your solution is stupid and unhelpful. Spending ~$100 to change to Win 7 makes no sense. We're just trying to let Valve know this issue exists so that it can be fixed soon.

Telling someone to downgrade doesn't help them with their problem unless it's the only known solution.
