Step 1) Find a mod site. I recommend l4dmaps.com or l4d2.gamebanana.com, I guarantee they can be trusted. Find a mod you want.

Step 2) Download the mod. You may need something like WinRAR or 7Zip to open the containing file.

Step 3) You should get a file that has a .vpk extension. Take this file and navigate to your
[Drive you have Steam/Left 4 Dead 2 installed on] > Program Files or Program Files (x86)* > Steam > steamapps > common > left 4 dead 2 > left4dead2 > addons folder. Paste it there.
You may want to create a shortcut to the addons folder for future ease of access.

Step 4) Go in game and check your Addons menu. If you did everything right, it'll be there.

If you look around enough, you will find that a lot of Workshop mods have manual counterparts that can be installed by this method. Just remember, dont' steal anyone's work or we'll get you.

*Steam should be in Program Files if you have a 32-bit OS, Program Files (x86) if you have a 64-bit OS. If it's not in one, check the other.

I disagree! I've gotten countless L4D2 and Skyrim mods off the Steam Workshop that install quickly (except for the Nacht Der Untoten mod for L4D2) and run perfectly. I think the OP should keep the downloading to 1 download at a time. Don't try and download ALL your mods at once, OP. Try it one at a time if it's seperate games. If not, dunno what's wrong. Bad connection to steam? Maybe restart computer, due to low RAM?

The only reason manual is faster is because you're downloading a compressed file, the workshop should compress uploaded files and uncompress downloaded files, because downloading 700 some MB campaigns when you could download a 300 MB one and spend a minute or so unpacking would just be so much better.
