I've encountered a greifer
I had encountered a greifer player who joined as Louis. He started killing Zoey and voted to restart the campaign, I tried to kick him but failed. He tried to kick me but the other players voted No. He was then voted to be kicked after I had killed Louis (so the player couldn't do anything). I was playing Blood Harvest, got to chapter 4 and on Expert diffcuilty. I currently blocked the player. If you see this user, be careful.

Some players that join could be a greifer. It's hard to tell if the player is a greifer or not unless you know about the player's behavior. Wikipedia has more information about greifers[en.wikipedia.org].

So far, this is what I think greifers will attempt to do.
*Annoy other players through spamming such as vocalize spamming, mic spamming etc.
*Waste items such Pipe Bombs, Pills, Molotovs, etc.
*Attempting to kick an innocent player for no reason.
*Intentionally shooting other Survivors until that Survivor is dead.
*Killing oneself.

Friendly Fire in Left 4 Dead 2 is a problem. Many greifers will often team kill other survivors often to prevent that player from playing, this is common on Expert difficulty as you can easily kill Survivors. Greifers are one of the main issues I have in online games including L4D2.

Had you encountered any greifers before?

Yeah, friendly fire usually causes problems in most games. Just in my opionion, I think in Left 4 dead 3 should have the option to play without friendly fire. So you start a match, then pick on/off for the friendly fire and when people join they can leave or stay depending on their preference.

Adorable thread. Ah, the days of my zombie shooting youth...

As hitman said hopefully in L4D3 there will be an option that allows for friendly fire to be turned off... and as for your question i have come across MANY "greifers" "trolls" "children" or whatever you wanna call them, they are A-holes that mess around on the internet because they are safe behind a monitor. What you can do is simply block them on steam and then they can no longer join you in game and thank you for bringing this kid to my attention and i will simply block him and never have to deal with him in game. :D

It's been a while since I've been griefed now, but I can still feel so much pain...

Like a knife that cuts you, the medkit heals. But the incap, that incap remains

Report them.

I honestly like the friendly fire feature, not because I am a griefer, but because I think it adds to the gameplay. It adds more suspense trying not to shoot your teammates when being invaded by a mob and I think it'll only help you get better aim in the future.

I think they shouldn't have an option to disable friendly fire in L4D3, but I think they should straighten it up a bit. For example, they should not allow friendly fire to still do damage if the bullet has penetrated through a door or a zombie. Things like that have you accidentally incapping your teammates when you genuinely tried helping them.

As for the griefers, yeah they really suck. My solution - a 0 tolerance policy toward griefers. If someone in your team shoots another team mate on purpose (you know it's on purpose when they take ALL your hp spamming vocalize cmd's, unless you're being invaded and stepped in front of someone wielding a shotty) then just ♥♥♥♥ing kill them, don't worry about you being looked at as the griefer. Kill them as they come out of closets too. Nothing ♥♥♥♥es a griefer off more than being killed, especially when others in the lobby try to assault them too. Using laughing commands and just typing "lol" after killing a griefer adds to their rage. Some are dumb enough to actually stay through the campaign attempting to kill you even though you kill them on the spot out of closets.
Trust me, it feels nice to incap and kill a griefer when they incap your teammate and you saved him when he's at 1hp on the ground.

@OP, making a topic about a griefer is pointless. Sadly, no one cares, and most of the players on L4D2 are in fact griefers. Your best bet is to now play Easy or Normal to avoid them completely. On Advanced, you might be able to kill the griefer. On Expert, first shot first served.

If anyone needs a good player with no tolerance to griefers, feel free to add me.

Edit: To add to your list, another thing griefers will do is hang very far back away from the other survivors.

Meh imo griefing isn't a reason to quit playing expert. I almost never run into any griefers now a days. But maybe I am just lucky...

Imo the grenade launcher FF is the give a way. Once I see this ♥♥♥♥ start going down something is about to happen.

Also some griefers I have encountered were freaking hilarious.

And as other people have said FF is definitely NOT a problem. It is a key aspect to this game. I cant express how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ easy this game would become without it. It would be Left 4 Chat 2 to the 1000th power.

I can say i have done this lol we had a greifer who trolled us a few days ago, we kicked him the first time when he started killing the team (kid waited for a tank to come), he changed his name and joined us, killed one of my teammates so i unloaded on him with the spas and he ran away fell off the side and died no one helped him and we all laughed and he rage quit then i found him and blocked him along with my other teammates, good thing i recorded the whole thing :D

I do think the option should be in the game tho to turn off freindly fire, tho i like it on as it does give more of a challenge and allows me to figure out the children from the team players so i just block them then i wont have to deal with them... also if a greifer joins your game in which you and the other 2 ppl are friends (which i usaully only play with freinds in this game now) when he starts be a F-tard all of you can kill him then vote kick him and he will rage, just make sure you get it on camera XD

Yeah that's another thing they'll do, simply change their name and rejoin you. There must be a 'reconnect to last server' kind of command because they just so happen to join your lobby again out of hundreds of others. Make sure you get a glimpse of their profile picture before they leave.

I never said record them to report them or that valve cares... LOL! What i meant was record them so you can put it on youtube when you kill them >:) Also i stream so it just so happens when a greifer comes in and trolls and we kill him, kick him then it will be put on the web for others to laugh and also make them aware that this loser should be blocked so you don't have to deal with them. :D
