Racism in Game
Seriously Valve. Can't you do something about this? I'm really tired of people using the N-word a billion times. People lose their job over saying that stuff in public so I don't think it should be condoned or fostered in online games by these punk 12 year olds that talk like their Mom and Dad do.

It's the Internet.
You can't regulate it.
They could put the HEARTS in the chat system at least. And I need a way to mute the a-holes...unlike on the Xbox, I couldn't find a way to do that with L4D2 under Steam.
That's the thing about the internet that has always puzzled me. People can choose to be anything they want to be online yet 99% of people choose to be jerks. I guess it's because on the internet a person has anonymity and can get away with stuff without consequences for their actions or statements.

Unless they are aware, sometimes a Google search and real name exposure can come back on them later in life.

Someone said a word I didn't like. We must regulate all such verbiage and ban all vernacular pertaining towards subjects to which I am sensitive. Seriously, guis. I am real cereal. Freedom of speech means nothing when my feelings are involved.

Thanks. I just blocked this Mortis guy up thread. Getting sick of these trolls.
Hmmm there have been threads about why everyone hates the black chick. That brings out a few questionable comments. I have to agree that the internet is to all intents and purposes unregulated. For valve to police this potentially they would have to monitor every single conversation - haven't the NSA in the US been dragged over the coals for this very thing. Maybe a more robust complaints system where they can monitor people who have serious racial issues may be a step forward.

I laughed. Trolling? I was making a solid point with the whole "freedom of speech" referrence, but you're just too overly sensitive to see that. Which is surprising, given your sensitivity.

Look, it shows you live in the USA. We happen to have a document that protects our rights to speak whatever we wish to speak. There are other rights which are protected. So unless you get together the parties necessary to alter said document, then perhaps you should learn to get more calaused and stronger to things which hurt your little feelings.

So grow up.

This is life and there are mean people outside. This is not The Nation of Centisteed. Is that clear enough for you or do I have to spell it out more clearer?

ive played many hours and there is hardly any talk at all let alone racist talk. so this post is bull.

You must not be playing late at night. But twice this weekend (a 3-day holiday weekend), I've gotten on & had to get an earful. So no, it's bull or I wouldn't be here posting it.

They have efficient ways to handle it. Look at reddit.com. There is no analogy between this and the NSA! Stop trying to "big picture" the conversation.

Further, learning to read the WARNING content of the game and the ESRB rating should also clue you in.

Rating Category: Rated M: mature 17+
Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Language
Other: Includes online features that may expose players to unrated user-generated content (Windows PC, Xbox 360)

The OTHER portion is very important.

I'm surprised you can spell at all. It's not a valid point if you know anything about Civil Rights.

I want to live the OPs life. Must be nice to have such an easy life where a word being said by a random person over a game on the internet can upset you to the point to actually complain about it. You'll never last a day once you're been thrown out of the basement and into the real world.

That's Content as in stuff developed for the game. Not idiots spouting racist nonsense. Can somebody tell me how I can block having to read Mortis' posts? I don't want to argue with this troll who is trying to derail the thread, somehow trying to prove that saying racist remarks to other human beings is OK in his book. Don't really care about The Mortis Guide to Life.

How predictably dense you are.

The battle over Civil Rights came and went and STILL not a single alteration was done to the first amendment.

So stop whining about racism. It happens. This is the internet. Vernacular is created and evolved throughout the years that will counter any said 'racist' blocking that happens anyways.
