Workshop Addon VPK's Disappearing
Okay so this is the 3rd time this has happened to me. I'll go to play L4D2 and all the addons that I got through the workshop have mysteriously vanished but the pictures that get stored in the workshop folder alond with the VPK's are still there, but the VPK's are gone, I have a bunch that I use so it sucks having to redownload 1.3 gigs of data every time they decide to just disappear without a trace. I was playing not even 10 minutes ago and they were all there. I stop to go take care of something come back to play L4D2 and all my workshop addons are gone, still says I'm subscribed to them all but the VPK's are just gone. All my old addons that I got outside of the workshop are still there though. I hope some day Steam gets it's ♥♥♥♥ together and fixes this rather annoying issue, I can't just go and redownload all this ♥♥♥♥ because I have a satellite ISP because it's the only thing that gets here in the mountains, the least Steam could do is have their ♥♥♥♥ working so even though I can't enjoy multiplayer I can at least enjoy Singleplayer. But now that's not that case because guess what Steam decided I don't need those files anymore so let's just throw them away.

I mean where do they go? There's no sign of them being deleted, there's no sign of anything being changed. Do addons have the ability to just get up and walk away now? ♥♥♥♥ like this pisses me off and wonder why I still bother playing games on a PC, you don't have issues like this on a console because you don't have some tyrant like Steam controlling all your ♥♥♥♥. I know there's not a damn thing I can do about this issue either because Steam doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ and I'm doing nothing more than venting here, feel free to vent on here if you have had this same thing happen to you before.

1) You don't even have the Workshop or mods on console, please show a little appreciation.

2) I have no damn clue why your game does that. It's for that specific reason that I download everything I can manually. If you want to keep your Workshop addons, move the .vpks to the addons folder and unsubscribe from the mods. This will keep them from redownloading, but it means you will have to keep an eye out for updates. It rather defeats the purpose of the Workshop, but at least it's more relaible.

I'm getting the same type of problem except for me, I download the workshop online, go offline, and suddenly 4 gigs of workshop is deleted when I go ingame. After I exit and check the folder, everything is gone. I recomend that anyone with my problem or the problem above, backup the wrkshop once you have fully downloaded everything.

Yeah that's what was always happening to me. Just taking the VPK's out of the workshop folder though and moving them to the addon usually fixes it, the only downside to that is you don't get updates to the mod if anything get's changed in it.

I checked the console, after clicking on the addons tab the console auto deletes all the addons and there JPG pictures. Anyone have a fix?

Same problem here
I using rude and primitive solution - copying addons in other folder and pasting them in addons folder after deleting of them by the game

i have same problem and it annoyes the hell out of me! it was fine a few days ago then just yesterday 1/2 my addons that i actully use are gone so the game has lost like 1/2 its fun in a way for me. i really hope they fix this issue or else steam is going to loose a memeber. PS: this happens to me on several games

This only happens to me on L4d2 everything else works, even my 16.9 Gigs of gmod addons never disappears unless Garry himself lays out an update that modifies the core files then the addons will disappear but it never happens randomly like it does for L4d2

I think you can only have 50 Workshop add-ons suscribed-to at a time. Any one that surpasses the 50 mark will not load.

No they all load for every game, Killing Floor is the only known exception as you are correct. Killing Floor only allows 50 Items which is stupid but to my knowledge that seems to be the only one. I know this for a fact as my L4D2 Workshop has 300 items in it and they all load

Actually this is happening for me on L4D2 :/

I don't know man, try reinstalling the game, the addons, or doing a Steam File Check. Never had this problem but there is the off shoot chance that your internet is refusing the downloads or it refused one and that single corrupt addon is clotting the download process
Ratchet Lombax Mar 22, 2014 @ 8:00pm
I've removed some to see if they were corrupting that. I thought Predator Claws was the one, but it still happened. I deleted all of the Workshop Add-Ons from their folder and still no, and a i Verified Cache, not either. What's Steam File Check?
♠Chr0n0Tr!gg3r♠ Mar 22, 2014 @ 8:07pm
Basically verifying the cache, ok try this, move all the addons out of the workshop folder, if you have done that already, Great! Now go ingame and re download them and see if it works. If they all download and show up then your good. If not then I'm not sure of your problem, your internet might be refusing to download the files and all I can offer is to either get a better internet provider or restart the router and then try downloading the files
