Why is there so much vote-kicking in this game?
I joined a scavenge server the other day, I revived 3 teammates, I had the most kills, and I delivered the most cans, yet the other players kicked me for no reason. I joined another server, and the exact same thing happened. What is up with all of this unprovoked vote-kicking?

are you playing on vs or campaign? sometimes people just kick to make room for a friend to get in the game. it's pretty bad, but it happens.

Yes it happens a lot. Time to move on. It will do you good, trust me.

Yeah, I used to play this game all the time, but since I seem to get kicked the second I join a game, I barely ever play anymore.

I say this all the time, but you pretty much have to play with friends in order to play vs. and most other types. If you are looking for somebody to play vs. with or whatever, add me. I am not the greatest at vs. but I am not bad at it either.

Yes I did the same at the end of last year. Stopped playing, didn't even have to be vote-kicked more than a handful of times to know it was the right thing to do.

It kinda turned me off the game altogether, but recently I've been playing random campaigns online and having fun. Joined a random versus today just to see if things had improved and before even getting the chance to left click to join there's is somebody in console asking to stop being vote kicked. Crap game. Just quit without joining and going to play something else.

Valve would be wise to either disable kicking altogether (LOL - the outrage...) or release an update that allows people to pick servers with people that want to play to mess about or play focussed. Take note I didn't use the word 'fun' in either instance there...

Either I'm extremely lucky or you people are extremely unlucky when it comes to joining a game.
I started playing the versus / scavenge modes just few days ago and so far, I can't complain about getting votekicked. Yeah, of course, I've encountered people that kicked me simply for not playing their way, or maybe missing that jump as a hunter was too much of a problem to them or whatever other reasons there were.
But more often than not, I join some server and have a nice game without being kicked.

Sometimes, people are even so nice and won't kick me even though I'd deserve the kick (let's face it, I make mistakes).

So, if I end up with people that kick me, I just join another server or take a break and play something else for a bit

its a best of this game to kick people

What happens alot is that people will be going along with the team and fighting hard and all of the sudden a kick vote comes up and you notice that it's you being kicked. You can't, for the life of you, figure out why you just got kicked because you were keeping up with the team and contributing to the fight all the time. In a case like this, the probable cause of you getting kicked is due to too much friendly fire on your team mates. I know it's hard to avoid friendly fire when the game gets really intense at times but you have to watch your aim. People won't tolerate excessive friendly fire.

Just yesterday, I got kicked from some Versus match even though I was pretty much the only one trying to somehow coordinate my attacks with the rest of my non-cooperative team
I was a smoker standing on a roof, seeing that a lone hunter pounced one of the survivors. So I quickly grabbed another survivor to help the hunter a bit, and BAM! A votekick came up and everyone voted me out O.o

World's gone crazy

the community at large isn't mature enough to "police themselves". valve gets their money, so i guess it's insane to expect them to look into how badly abused the system is. game over

this is why i always play l4d2 on my local server because when kids or noobs come in to try and kick you they can't because it's your server. if they can't and they try to shoot you dead instead then just drop the console down and admin kick them

These players who vote kick they take the game to seriously and they haven't got a sence of humour, these players expect other players to play the way they do, thats not the case everyones gameplay is different.

Don't give up, I recently started playing again and have been able to find enough people to put together a team fairly easy. There's enough people out there same as you who are tired of getting kicked, you just have to find them.
