Do people actually play with the game muted?
Was playing realism today.

Was holding hands with a teammate.

Got pounced.

Teammate went on without realizing I was down.

Only reason I could think of was that he didn't hear the hunter scream or the fact that his own character shouted: "Hunter on Nick!"

Am I also a noob for using subtitles?

wat

I was standing next to a teammate, got pounced by a hunter, and teammate didn't notice.

I assume that he couldn't hear anything because he had game volume muted. My question is,
How can people play without the game sound?

There are quite a few "special players" in this game, don't you think..

I've seen things like this happen many times. A lot of people don't have a huge attention span, and don't seem to notice sounds like a wailing zombie running a few steps behind them, or a teammate getting snagged by a special. The sounds in this game are incredible; I think you could kick ♥♥♥ if you were completely blind...

With surround sound sure :D Then you could say "Realism means nothing to me!"

I can already say that. :) You don't need surround sound, either, stereo is fine.

sometimes I play muted when I'm trying to keep noise levels down and dont have headphones, but generally look around to make sure I'm not missing anything

I know there's quite a people that at least have music off (From the mentioning that they don't have tank music) so it's possible.

Music is for tank, boomer, safe room, and credits as far as I know and maybe the horde alert.

Sometimes the music/sound cues don't work, you should use a mic if you can, since in realism there are no outlines to tell if someone's down, if they're out of your line of sight.
