Nice to know I'm not alone with this problem! All we can do is wait for someone to help us.

Make a 512x512 image, get vtfedit and import you image with it, now save it as vtf and place it in: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\materials\vgui\logos\custom, now to the last part, right clic your spray > properties and check "read only". Open your game, search for your spray and open it, it should work now.

1. Close your game if it's running.

2. Copy the custom spray file'(s) into your game's Logos folder.

3. Start up your game and you should see the new spray listed amongst your other sprays.
Some games may require you to import the spray from the in-game Options menu before you can use it.

For example, in Left 4 Dead, you may need to do the following:
- click Options
- click Multiplayer
- click Import Spray...
- browse to the spray file (.vtf file) then select it and click Open

Here is the path where your game's Logos folder is located:

Left 4 Dead 2
=============
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\materials\vgui\logos

NOTE:
If you appear to be missing your game's Materials folder, VGUI folder or Logos folder, you can simply create them.
