Valve has screwed over Custom Campaigns in Latest update!!!
Why valve just why! For those who have been playing Custom campaigns lately you may have noticed "Why is there missing models and textures". Well this is because valve screwing over the modding community, they removed a crap ton of models and textures, that are used in many campaign (Never Ending War, Undead Zone and Yama are just a few) The reason they removed them is because they were "unused" in the Cold Stream Campaign. Why they removed them now is beyond me, but just what a way to stab the community in the back Valve. Especially since I am a mapper myself and it sucks to see 1/10's on reviews due to missing textures and models! Please show this to Valve and make them bring the models back.

I somewhat agree with your post! I may not be a mapper myself, nor do I play custom campaigns anymore but will somehow do it soon, but at least now I have been informed by this post that Valve removed some models.

I had a chat with Chet recently. He was very nice about it and what not so here is what it said.

SpeedBoost: Hey chet you may not know who I am but may I speak to you about L4d2's latest update. From a fellow mappers stand point.
Chet: wjat
Chet: what's up?
SpeedBoost: Well I am a creator of a couple maps on l4dmaps and in the recent update you guys have removed a bunch of models and textures and it has caused many campaigns to have missing textures and Error signs (missing models) so I was wondering if you are able to do anything about it
Chet: sorry, those models and images were left over content during the Cold Stream beta - we had not yet vetted all the content - once we did we had to remove some content that we could not verify the source
SpeedBoost: So the models and textures will not be Returning?
Chet: no. they can't. It was our first time working wiht a community modder like that and took his word/he didn't realize what was there - but we cannot distribute that content
SpeedBoost: Oh ok thank you
Chet: it had been removed from the campaign, it just was residul in some vpks - we just purged all the vpks for space this last update and to help with issues like this

From what it sounds like Valve lost contact with the Creator of Cold Stream so they had to remove the models for space and due to the fact they had no permission. The thing is WHY REMOVE IT AFTER 2 YEARS OF COLD STREAM BEING PLAYABLE FOR THE PUBLIC! I uploaded a mod on l4dmaps that fixes this. http://www.l4dmaps.com/details.php?file=26132
I did not make the mod Rayman1103 made it. No one should thank me, thank him.

Just to clarify, we worked Matthew through the whole process. Early on we we vetted the content in the campaign and if the original source was lost or we were not able to verify the source we removed the content from the campaign. We thought we had done that before the first release but some stuff remained - this was the first time we worked this way with a modder and I don't mean to blame Matthew at all - he is great - it is just we have a higher level of proof of ownership and when push came to shove we had to remove anything in question and remake them ourselves where they were still being used - the amount of model work on that campaign was much larger than it appears.

How the VPKs work that content still stayed in the vpks it was just unused. Once we realized this we planned to remove it but did not want to do two major cleanups (extra downloads) So we paired with the move to steampipe and the beta update - since it was already so large.

If the community has a solution that they they can verify their ownership of those files, that's great!

Chet please, i tried to contact you many times why its the cl_wpn_sway command disabled when it was enabled before l4d release? im animator and i hate to see how my modded viewmodel are static when i move the camera. Could you please enable the cvars at least for when you set sv_cheats 1?
