Unfortunetely the answer is that Valve probably thinks the game is fine as it stands. So don't do / update anything.
That is valve devs old solution, and it hasnt worked - fact is for 3 yrs odd they have said that for part 2 and the majority of games end up with rage quitting followed by the msg server shutting down due to not enough players.
Solution: A penalty system such as was requested a million times in SPUF, heck CS:GO has a penalty system and it works.
having hundreds of friends is not a solution, and at the time (if you had 100+) they are not playing left for dead 2 anymore due to this same issue we are speaking of....
Everything he said. Getting punished for leaving the match wouldnt work because sometimes you just need to leave the game because you have something to do, need to piss, etc. etc.
Wrong, it is implemented in Dota 2 and in CS:GO and it works in both (there was initial crying and tears) then ppl had to man up and or gtfo, simple enough and it works - the whining has stopped in their forums about it and now ppl compete more for their time in an online game.
It is a 2 way street you cant just rage quit and ruin other ppls experience in a game and expect nothing happens to you while the team you were on or the game in l4d2's case gets "server shutting down due to not enough players" and you go off to another game stuff up and rage quit all over again.
