I mean really. We have to TRADE for the other 4 cards that you get for purchasing the game. I say it is madness. Who here agrees that they should give them out, or at least make them drops, for the other 4 cards.

i wouldnt mind a drop system like a .5% chance of the card to be given to you after killing the matching infected.
but by no means does the trading card system make steam suck, perhaps just that 1 singluar aspect of steam

I'm not exactly excited to buy no less than four cards per game if I want badges either. I feel like there should be other ways to earn them.

guys the whole point of trading cards is to grow steams community...you have to trade and haggle coupons and items from your games to get the other cards because it creates social interaction and thats what valve is trying to build for the pc community

The itch of wanting to collect / achieve everything is always there ( must catch them all!!). The card system is good and probobly will stay this way.
You can always get dota 2 and tf2 cards for free and trade them to other cards, though those cars are a lot cheaper.

Lolz!! You only get TF2 and DOTA 2 cards if you spent $$ in game.... There is no such thing as free....

not really that means not every one will be able to get all the cards.
They should have it that you can only earn 4 of the 8 cards while some one else can earn a different set of the 4 thus making trading a viable option. once you trade lets say a tank you then can earn one more tank to trade again.

They dont want you to trade, or they would have alternate pre-drop sets. They want you to buy and sell them in the market so they get micro transaction fees. I just craft the badges I like, and sell all the other cards. I've made 11 bucks so far, so It's not like I disagree with the cards, but lets not make them something they aren't.
