First, this is a post from seven years ago, second is that low effect detail is a bad idea. Not being able to see tank rocks is pretty bad. Keep it at medium.
What if you want to shoot the rock to destroy it but you can't because it's invisible? You see the rock for like half a second before it disappears from view only to reappear suddenly again; This doesn't have to be about you dodging either, it could be a teammate that is in trouble.
By the time the rock reappears there's very little window of opportunity to get out of its way. The risk is not worth the reward imo
Above implies if you're in versus. If you're in campaign then tank rocks are very easy to dodge, the AI is easily fooled by movement.
7 years old post though
Low memory page will make props to be more transparent, giving you a free wallhack, but that will mean you won’t see the tank rock until a moment later.
Higher effect will make the lighting to stand out more, allowing you to catch threats, but then better lighting could also simulate better darkness effect, restricting your vision.
