Did you even read the update notes, do you even realise without updates how FUBAR the game would be...

Patching a game is not a one off thing, never will be.

Do you realize how often valve updates add 10 more problems for every one they attempt to fix? Valve updates and patches have always been a running joke ever since I first got onboard back with cs 1.3. Back then the game would literally be offline for days to implement a patch only to come back so you can see how many new things they ♥♥♥♥ed up. Patches are a necessary evil but Ive never seen a gaming house consistently put out backassward patches left and right like valve.

The workshop update was literally one of the worst Ive ever seen. Not only were they years late with releasing it for this game but they started blabing about its l4d2 release months before it came out. I swear they must of finished the last line of code, tested it on the first machine they could find, then spread that halfassed garbage to the masses.

Ill never pretend to know what its like to have to keep a game functional at this scale across all the absurd hardware variables they face but there is no excuse for a nonessential update for a four year old game to be that horridly executed. Id rather they kept up with the blog posts and mutation changes rather than give braindead idiots that cant handle finding a mod site and vpks a way to get their mods.

While the op types like a badger on meph, his core sentiment is spot on. My friends and I have always had the running joke "for every valve update, 1 thing gets fixed and 4 things get broken".
I've ran 3 different l4d2 servers and I dreaded every time valve updated, because I had to fix something if possible or hear the complaints.

The game is fine. All this talk of how "unplayable" it is is just pathetic. Most whines are about VS and how unbalanced it is and blah blah anyway. Fix the new bugs created by this update, test it, test it again and test it more, then stop updating. Im sure the trove of talented mod makers and coders in this community could fix any issue or alter whats needed or desired.

So, yes I agree. Stop updating.

Yes i do realise more than you think i do, i run servers i know how often they break things and well it is frustrating to say the least.

But the suggestion from the OP, is just moronic.

The thing valve needs to do more of is in house testing and have it go through a signing off stage rather than just throw it out in the wild once 2 devs who have "tested" the patch say it is fine for release to public.

Never said I agreed with the OP they do have to fix the bugs they come across but honestly I have never had a major problem with this game that didnt come from them trying to fix something I never had an issue with. The only bugs and glitches Ive come across are ones from near day one that are still out. Like today a few hours ago random no mercy elevator death. I swear Ill kill myself if they ever fully patch that. I love how they'll take the time to take out the fun stupid glitchs like map one skips on no mercy but that elevator will never be whole except on l4d1 like that makes any sense.

When you actually go in and try to modify things in the game its easy to see they have far too many people individually working on different codes that have no idea how to work together properely.

I'm just sick of the updates because every single time Steam is broke or crippled. sometimes I've had to re-install but mostly it's just that the updates won't start.

I play this game once a week, and everytime it's different, which would be nice if the updating process wasn't the worst i've ever seen.

All they need is project managers who can then sign off on the projects, boggles the mind that is not the case if my assumption is correct.

Look at alliedmods site they have modders finding fixes for source engine based games (the one valve wont do and then some), some of these fixes are as simple as 9-30 lines of code some more.

I cringe tbh each time i know there is an update and think "what is broken now".

Ah well i guess expecting things too change for the better will be like hoping for santa to shave his beard.

Don't want bugs? Don't play on custom maps that were poorly made.
