If you dont see a change then it really doesnt matter. Whatever you can handle aesthetically with what youd consider to be playable fps is all that matters. Id recommend testing whatever settings you're trying on any large open area maps like the boat house finale of death toll. Those are much more taxing and if you're going to have issues itd be on one of those maps. You can also enter net_graph 1 into console or run fraps so you can see how the different settings change your fps.

That would be acceptable for most people. Again this is a thing where its mostly upto you. If it is playable at the settings you chose on a demanding map then you're good. Numbers dont matter when its all up to your opinion. Myself I dont like dipping under 60 but I also have a much faster computer. it's all upto your choice with this kind of stuff. Whatever suites you.

ok thanks appreciate your help!!!
I'm surprised that your iMac can run those settings smoothly. Apple products have been known to have an immensly, piss poor performance.

Nevertheless, shader details revolve around shadows. So basically, the lower the shader setting, the low texture and detail of shadows in-game.

i know i thought i would give it a try and it works well...would u happen to know if effect detail has anything to do with changing visuals cause if it only has to do with "effects" like fire and explosion etc. you think i should turn it downto save on CPU performance and also FPS?!?!?!? any help would be appreciated thanks
