Macs have lower "priority" than windows or something like that, time is the best medicine, just:

1. Wait
2. Restart steam
3. Restart computer

And it will eventually work

same thing happening on my mac, just bought it today and can't install it. says preparing files for download and then closes and says the steam servers are too busy to handle your request please try again in a few minutes. fix plz

same here ... it since yesterday .. i tried to reinstall steam but it doesnt work ..

Try different download region, sometimes works, to top right on UI to Steam, then settings, and change download region. Can change back when done.
