Valve, why does Verus matchmaking suck?
I'm a noob with 75 hours, but I'm often put into lobbies with 500+ hour players. Instead of having this skill-gap between noobs and vets that results in kicking and anger, could Valve create/improve the matchmaking algorithm to match noobs with noobs and elitists with elitists vets with vets?

There is no matchmaking in L4D at all. You join lobby and should check on profiles by yourself. If there is 4 friend-players on opposing team, you should go look for another lobby, prefferably with randomers only. Only after you get some experience in the game, you can try to compete with such obvious pubstompers (to get better chances, bring at least one experienced friend with you).
But first of all, play some coop. After you master it on Expert difficulty, you can get some friends and play 4v4 versus with friends on both sides. This way you will learn how to play versus and will not be kicked for mistakes.
Good luck. :)

Respectfully disagree. Campaign is completely different in terms of tactics. In Expert, every single zombie is a huge deal if you allow it to hit you, whereas versus is only concerned with quick horde control (it's less risky to use melee weapons). If you wait to heal in versus like you do in Expert, you will be dead before your team has decided to abandon you. FF is also a big factor. Sometimes it takes me a while to transition between Campaign/Survival gameplay style and Versus/Scavenge gameplay style.

Did you play CS:GO ? I guess not because trust me the matchmaking is a very bad idea.

I haven't played competitive yet, I don't think I'm good enough. It sounds like an interesting idea in theory, but what are some of the things that making it a bad idea?

You're still matched with players of different levels anyway so it's useless, but it's not the only problem try it for some hours you'll understand me it's awful.

75hrs isnt bad, you have racked up the suitable hours to go into versus. Its pretty fun, just make sure your ready to be called a noob. it comes with the competitveness. I have near 200hrs and get called noob by some ppl with 1000+ hrs but you learn alot from them if you watch and listen to them.
Expert campaign is useless, campaign on normal for all maps 2 times is more than enuf. You only need to play campaign to learn the way around the map and use certain things. Versus is fast paced, trying to get to saferoom by nearly by passing 25% of the zombies while expert is slow and precise, making sure you kill every zombie to not get hit.
