custom infected
now that left 4 dead 2 has workshop could there be new special or common infected?

in the Warcelona add-on campaign, some common infected have the football shirt. do you mean a new skin or a diferent common infected? (like the mud zombies).

well skins are obviously going to come out but i mean overall new common or special infected so yes like the mudman policemen hazmat or whatever other ones there are

No, you can only replace existing things like weapons but you can't add new things.

You can replace the m4 with another m4 but you can't add a complete new weapon.

Same goes for the infected, you can replace them but you can't make new infected.

Adding new Special Infected would require building them from the ground up in a custom campaign, if it is at all possible. They would only be usable in that campaign and would probably not be supported in Versus.

Clay, I do believe that Extended Mutation would allow for (somewhat) custom Infected. Certainly well beyond the limitations that were present before, but to what extent we don't know yet. Heavily modifying the current Infected is certainly possible now, though.

If you're meaning new special infected with new abilities and design, then that's gonna be very hard. Common infected is one thing, but special infected? That requires a ♥♥♥♥ ton of coding, scripting, designing and so forth.

The source engine, or specifically the one used in L4D2 is a terrible one for modders wanting to add new actors and scripts that add things like new infected and weapons. Wait for this "mutation beta" to end and we'll see if we can finally get around this annoying bottleneck. It looks like they're adding scripts and more in depth modding, as it currently stands, modding L4D2 is more tedious than it needs to be, and hopefully this will fix it.

you can make your own mod and then give infected a new skin and mod there stats so there difrent but im not sure that you can give them there own abilites
