Left 4 Dead 2
Good game but i can't even complete a campaign on single player. :-/
Do i just suck at this game or are there any good tips for surviving when your healths in the red and there's not a single health kit around. Most of the time i'm being revived by my team mates so i figure i'm not playing the game well or just suck really bad!

what level of difficulty were you playing? easy and normal are good when you're new.
Normal. I should say i've competed the first two campaigns after many tries so i gave up, tried multiplayer but kept getting booted. Main thing is reaction time, say i've got no health and one bullet and a charger is on me, wtf am i meant to do?!!

You have only 17 hours buddy. Give it some time. No one becomes good overnight. My advice is to play campaigns on easy with friends or alone until you feel that it became easy. Switch difficulty to normal, advanced and expert as you skill level progress. If I were you, I wouldn't go into Versus until you've mastered the campaigns.
Some tips:
* In case you're not already, use keyboard and mouse (I use wired xbox controller for fun sometimes, but reaction times are slower).
* when lots of zombies are very close, use melee weapon and even push them away - often better than trying to machine gun them all down.
* when lots of zombies appear try and get to a good place with your back to a wall so you can't be attacked from behind
* Don't run off or get left behind, stick with other players
Well, it depends on what you get hurt by the most that brings you down to red, special infected or common infected? If you get constantly brung down to low health by the specials try to stay by your team more so they can save you. If your brung down to red by common infected, stay by your team again and use your right click to shove them back and use melee if they are up close in the melee weapon's range (Its insanely powerful against them).

If there are other problems that may be another causing you to screw up just say something. Like the guy above me say just keep playing and soon you get the hang of it.

Yeah your right. Had a little break and just came back to it but my main issue is reaction times, feels like the game moves too fast which could be cause i'm using a 360 controller as the guy above mentions but i prefer playing with it. I'll try with keyboard and mouse anyway.

If you want my advice, forget the controller. Start playing with a keyboard and a mouse so you can get used to it faster. Playing with a mouse is so much easier (once you got used to it). The reaction time is faster, the accuracy is better...it just feels "quicker" in every way as opposed to the stick. I have played with both and I can tell you that I will never go back to a controller, at least not for fps games. Keep your controller for racing games. If you want to become good at L4D2, start practicing with the mouse.

*I'll try this as it sounds like what might be my problem.
*I push them away, works really well until the horde comes lol but i will grab a melee weapon next time.
*Back to the wall is a good one, a couple of times i was so focused on the zombies in front that i left my back upon and ended up on the floor lol, this is part of the problem.
*Yeah i always stay tight with the team.

Mate it's hard to tell sometimes but i'm healthy then a second i'm on the floor being revived lmao! I think maybe i try to take on the zombies too much rather than focusing on getting to the next checkpoint.

I'll definltely try it. my keyboard is an old piece of junk though! I use xpadder to reduce the deadzone which makes the 360 more responsive but it's not accurate enough. Alright thanks a lot for the replies, got a few ideas now so time to kick some zombie ass lol.

Your issue here is that you play a dependable game. You depend of other players, and you cannot move as a leader. Bots will behave after your gameplay mode... so...
I've tried several strategies, and a few of them pays off.

When going through early and mid levels, use pistols, but not Magnum. The raw power is nothing, compared to the default pistols ammo capacity, fire rate and precision. Use primary when facing hordes running towards you, save special ammo for Tank's.

When playing a finale, use melee. In The Parish, a melee weapon pays off more than pistols when running for your life, since you can just ram through hordes within seconds. Use Adrenaline when running through straight paths.

I prefer Shotguns in early levels, but Submachine guns have several other advantages; Ammo, fire rate, range, precision and so on. In Dead Center, at the Motel, throwing Bile Bombs of the ledges will thin out the infected, leaving more open space with less zombies. Great for when making a speed run.

In survival finals, use Misc. objects as traps (gas tanks, canisters, etc) for larger groups, or Special Infected. But place with space in between to avoid a chain reaction. And use special weapons (Grenade Launcher, M60, etc) for groups or Special Infected. Also, remember that a Grenade Launcher can destroy debris thrown by Tank's.

Chainsaws are useful against large hordes of zombies, and Witches wandering in daylight. And since i can destroy gas cans, and requires fuel, it's not totally considered a melee weapon. Melee weapons all deal the same amount of damage (Somewhat), but they have different swing-rates. A machete swings faster than an axe, and a guitar swings slower than a baseball bat, so choose wisely.

Do you mean i'm playing in single player mode? That's a good point, if i see a team mate in trouble and i have good health i should heal them but I try looking around for meds and pain pills etc to keep topped up or heal myself if i get massacred by the zombies. I try and watch my teammates backs, this game requires a bit of thinking on your feet and making smart choices so that's why i posted, i want to get to a point where i can enter the fray with other players without teh epic fail lol.
I would try playing campaign, it's far easier to learn with other people helping you. Sure you might get kicked every so often, but it does help having people pick up the slack for you. I'll run some campaigns from time to time with you if you want to add me. And as others said ditch the controller, consoles have some aim assist to compensate for the terrible aim which a xpadder+controller won't have so it will aim incredibly clunkily, which is bad for a game that needs fast reflexes.

Thanks, the weapons was one thing i wasa having issues with, i do ok with the pistols so i'll stick with them. I tried sub machine gun but i think i hit more trees than zombies haha.

Excellent tips anyway, i couldn't think of a good creative use for the bile bombs so i'll be trying that out when i need to redirect some zombies lol. :)

Cheers.
