uuuh, -insecure is only a serverside command. are you trying to host a listen server through the console?

so you're getting an error message about an -insecure parameter when you try to join servers?

Yes...

well if you're launching from a desktop shortcut you should check to see if that has the command line, and if that's where you've already checked then check the steam launch options. otherwise, have you tried launching with -secure in the launch options?

*Sigh*... Nope, still nothing

what about deleting/moving your cfg folder and verifying?

Provide more information.

If you are launching from a shortcut

Remove the shortcut and then verify that there are NO launch options whatsoever by right clicking on the game in your steam library clicking properties clicking set launch options then highlighting all the text in the dialog and deleting it. Click ok and then remake your shortcut by right clicking on the game in your library and clicking make desktop shortcut.

Other Ideas

Remove all files from
  • ../steamapps/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/addons
  • ../steamapps/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/cfg/sourcemod
  • ../steamapps/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/cfg/metamod
to ensure your copy isn't trying to run local versions of sourcemod or metamod. This will, however, disable any local mods that rely on metamod/sourcemod or remove mutators or certain dlc until you redownload it.

If all else fails

Delete and reinstall left 4 dead 2 and all downloaded content.

If you continue to have issues after reinstalling I would recommend contacting steam support. I can think of no reason the -insecure flag would carry over after a reinstall. This is all the advice I can offer, good luck.
