Question & Discussion: Australian R18+ re-classification and current/previous buyers
A question more-so aimed at Valve, however anything official from anywhere is appreciated.

R18+ Classification

With the 'new' R18+ classification for games coming into effect today in Australia, will Left 4 Dead 2 be entered for re-classification?

I know that the requirement for re-classification is for two years to have passed since the original classification, and the date for (the modified) L4D2 was 7th October, 2009.
That would make the re-classification requirement 7th October, 2011. It's now 1st January, 2013, nearly another year and three months on from that date.
I know I for one (among (hopefully) many others) would like to see L4D2 re-classified, whether it remain as an MA15+ game or it become (one of) the first R18+ game/s.

Previous/Potential/Future Buyers of Low-Violence L4D2

However, my other query is this: Will people who purchase the game now or have purchased the game before the re-classification (assuming it happens) receive an update in order to remove the restrictions? I'd say it's logical to expect this, however, as I haven't purchased L4D2 on Steam yet, I don't want to be locked into the child-friendly nannied violence-limited version and have to purchase it again.

Discuss...

And, in order to keep discussion alive, what do you, the people, think of the R18+ rating? Would you like to see Left 4 Dead 2 re-submitted in the future? Are there any other games you feel are worth for re-submission?

Godulus, let's not start a discussion on our government. We could be here a while otherwise.

SweatyGremlins, I'm in agreement. If we are able to purchase a proper version, I'll buy it. Otherwise, I'm less inclined to do so.

I also agree, I loved LFD1 but refused to purchase LFD2 because the censorship has thoroughly offended me. I will purchase if if there is a re-classification of the rating.

EDIT: I was lurking around for official posts, last year there was a reply from Chetf indicating that Valve is aware of the re-classification date, so hopefully they will be onto it soon. If there is any game company we can trust, it's Valve.

Excellent stuff there, Crimson. (Why do I feel like Sarah Palmer from Halo 4 Spartan Ops talking?)
If they're aware, there's all the chance that they'll re-submit it, which is great news.
