Installing In Another Directory?
So I recently got a new SSD and decided to put Steam on it since they let you install games in other directories now, which was perfect since I'm keeping the majority of games on my old HDD...I was just about to reinstall L4D2 but apparently it won't let me place it in the HDD?

Any ideas how I could force Steam to recognize L4D2 on the HDD? It recognized most of my other games' files/folders in it (e.g. Killing Floor, Assassin's Creed series).

Just to clarify, Steam was able to create a new directory in the HDD yet it won't allow L4D2 to be installed there (unlike some other games which were enabled to do so).

Unfortunately, that isn't working in my case...I should've clarified, I did create a new Steam Library/Directory which indeed recognized my files for some individual games. It just refuses to allow me to install L4D2 (or TF2 now that I checked) in that new directory. The only option is the drive where Steam itself is located; the drop-down list doesn't even appear unlike some other games. :/

Same here. I cannot install L4D or L4D2 on a second HDD. It worked for Portal 2 (but not 1) and Bioshock. Seems a bit random?

Same for me. L4D2 and Disciples 2. Still no solution?

Same problem here. I want to install LFD2 on my HDD but can't. What is up with that?

I'm an IT administrator... Junctions... why wasn't it my idea? It's perfect!

Edit: I'm refering to the SteamMover. I think you can use the this application. It moves the data to a different hard drive and creates a junction in the location where steam expects the game to be. The junction is like a link and targets to the game folder on the other drive.
This is no magic. I did it by hand but the SteamMover is most likely easier to handle.

Thank you very much BALLBEARING.
