l4d2 problems

ive been playing alot and loving it, ive even downloaded a few mods! but today it keeps saying game available please try again later for hours. is steam being retarded again for everybody? is it the new update? someone please help

My game is bugging out since the last update also. I've followed the instructions given here (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=33548807#post33548807), I have no parameters on my start-up either. But still this problem doesn't seem to have been fixed, at least not on my end. Eons later and I start getting this issue all of the sudden. On the top of all that, whenever I start l4d2 I get "app already running" even though I've shut it down properly (yes yes checked task-manager and all that), why the four-small-pink-hearts is this happening? And my "steam.inf" is also screwed, the game is clearly up to date, though "steam.inf" states otherwise.

1. I don't wanna have to shut down steam from taskmgr every single time i wanna start the game!

2. I don't wanna have to manually edit Steam.inf after every game update so I can join servers.

Please, help me out.

i figured out the solution to our problem, 1: right click the game in your library, 2: click properties, 3: go to local files 4: click defragment files. after that it should work properly, you should do the same if you are experiencing slow processing or low frame rate in other games
