I'm starting to get really mad about this...
Let me start off by saying that I play on a crap computer. I tried so many different things to reduce lag, but none of them really let me run steady at 20 or even 15 fps for an extended period of time. Today, I started playing with around 30 fps and after 15 minutes I was playing at 5 fps! And now, when I try to launch L4D2, it just freezes during the loading screen! I'm starting to get REALLY mad about this. Can anyone tell me anything at all that will help me!?

sounds like you're on a laptop with a bunch of dust inside of it. so in other words, no there is no special cheat code to make your computer more powerful. some people might tell you to install game booster or shut off your anti virus, but that's really not going to do anything. your options are: deal with unplayable framerate, play really old games, upgrade to a decent PC.

well i agree with the above comment, myself i dont have an old laptop, just a cheap one and this particular game works just fine on it, but one thing that worked for me with high end games is playing it with a low resolution (borderlands 2 can run on max settings as long as its on 800*600 :P)

Right click l4d2, click properties, click launch options and add "-novid" .. and see if that helps it not freeze... most ppl who freeze when launching fix it that way. Also, lower ur resolution to the lowest and disable/lowest settings...if that doesnt work ur SOL.

I've done that already... It just drives me crazy because when I start playing it runs very well.

I'm going to get a new computer soon... I already have one in mind. I just want to know what I can do to minimize lag until i get the new one.

I had this same problem for a long time. My computer met the requirements, but it lagged at various events. One hilarious moment, I used an adrenaline shot, and my buddy who was in the red jogged right past me! My role tended to be "decoy". LOL Not enjoyable in multi-play, and frustrating in single-play.

I looked for all kinds of answers online, but ultimately, the only fix was to get a better system. I'm sorry that there isn't something more immediate to offer.

Put:
-lv
in the launch options of L4D2....

And say good-bye to the gore and zombies on fire.... But, it will give you more frames. Also, lower your resolution to 800x600 and play in 4:3 mode.

Really? A person with health in red ran past you after you had used adrenaline? LOL

man upgrade your rig, there is no other solution but: buying new graphics card, new CPU, more Ram, or building ur self a new rig...FPS depen 90% on good rig and 10% on good game development (Example: Far Cry3 has ♥♥♥♥ty fps even with excelent rigs as mine)

Morale of the story: I need to get a get a good computer. Also that I shouldn't get Far Cry 3 unless I have a supercomputer. Am I right?

Game developers should make games keeping in mind that a lot of people have crap computers... Most of them don't seem to care.
