Mod problems

For some reason my L4D 2 mods were synced to my L4D1 addon folders I uninstalled them and reinstalled them, but nothing works. My newer mods and campaigns I get won't load either. I get a message that says it was not successfully installed. The mod is already in use or installed. When it's not.Help me please...
