Not connecting to Valve's Official servers.
I can connect to the Pinion White Label servers. But not the original official dedicated servers Valve first started off using. I connected to one using openserverbrowser in console. Played 3 games & they worked fine. I also reinstalled Steam. Deleted the files except for the Steamapps & the Steam.exe. Verified integrity of game files. Still the only way I could connect was with openserverbrowser. The lobby will still not connect to them.

I believe Pinion White Label are counted as 'Official' Dedicated Servers, and the lobby will just pick the server with the lowest ping that is available under the pool of server's it has to choose from. Perhaps if you wish to use Valve servers you should copy a few of the server ips for Valve servers and use the mm_dedicated_force_servers <server ips> command in your autoexec.cfg to force your lobbies to always pick the same servers.

Thanks Azimuth. But truth be told, I have never messed around with files before. I will try the method you suggested.

As Azimuth said, however I'm not as knowledgeable with the networking aspect of the game, however I do know that the server selected is the one with the lowest ping for the host(you connecting to it on your own or someone starting a game who is room host). Now it may seem like some prying, but a quick look at your profile shows you have at least 1 VAC ban. Now, I don't know how severe the ban is, but that may be blockading you from connecting. If that isn't the case, then it might just be that your system prefers the Pinion White Label servers due to better proximity.

@Kitsune

In regards to the VAC ban, it was for the original Half - Life & some of the games from that engine. Specifically. Counter Strike 1.6 & Condition Zero. Opposing Force. Blue Shift. ect.....

However. I have been connecting to the Official Dedicated servers for Left 4 Dead 2 fine. Until this past Tuesday afternoon. That's when it started for me. And finally. I tried one last method for connecting to the Official Servers. I selected Best Available Dedicated in the options in lobby. And wouldn't you know it...... It worked. Odd really.

I noticed the same issue with Valve servers not being used and always landing on Pinion White Label servers regardless of who is the lobby leader. A few of us have a problem with the MOTD on those servers and crashes to desktop and will NOT allow us to play on those servers 90% of the time for some of us.
