Over 1,000 average Infected killed per hour.
I keep seeing people with like, 300-400ish (either noobs or hardcore VS nerds), with the occasional 500-600 (I assume either survival nerds, or casual campaign/realism players), but I don't think I ever saw anyone with 700-800, let alone over 1,000.

What's yours?

lol i'm not a new player. been playing since the release date of l4d1 and l4d2.

515.42 is mine (roughly 65% campaign, 35% versus) - I'm an average player.

In campaign I'm usually competing with someone else for 'Most Infected Killed', but a mate of mine who is incredibly efficient at killing the infected and constantly doubles the values of whoever comes second has 'only' 533 - possibly due to the occasional idling session in between games and such.

Theoretically, for someone who never idles and always takes the role of leader in campaigns, 700-800 and beyond are possible.

That would be very inefficient. Hordes don't spawn often enough and don't have enough infected, and killing too many infected in a too short amount of time results in barely 10% of the kills registering. Try playing Blood Harvest 3 on Easy, sit at the end safe room with a melee weapon, kill everything until you're low on health, close the door, chances are "general defense" will say that you killed at least 800-900 infected, but if you go into your stats, you'll find that you'll be lucky if the kill count increased by 200, and half of that is the zombies you killed while going through the chapter normally.

I just play the custom mutation One Against Many, which is the fastest way IMO. It's basically single player against only commons, they spawn very frequently, and in very large numbers (up to 48 I believe). A variation of this mutation, Single Player Realism, is essentially the same but without ammo piles and with a 64 commons cap (stock is 30). However the cap is too high, resulting in massive hordes that die too fast to melee weapons, being the only viable weapons with the lack of ammo and realism health, resulting is less kills overall.

When playing campaign, either with friends or in public, I have the highest amount of kills roughly 98% of the time, 90% of the time by a large margin, typically over 100 more kills than the second highest score.

So nope, I'm not sitting at a saferoom door, for it's horribly inefficient, slow and boring. Expert One Against Many all the way.

I got lots of tips to rack up fast kills that do count, if anyone's interested. Hell maybe I should make a guide or something.

One Against Many sounds exactly like what I was looking for to improve my efficiency. Dammit L4D2, could you for once be bothered to stop having so many addictive features?

Well earned stat of over 1'000, though I find the numbers you quote intriguing, are they made up or is there a source to them ? Pacifically the amount registered ?

Me I prefer co-op and just seems nobody can ever close a safe door if there is a horde attacking, and some .... even wait for that inefficient 2nd .. 3rd wave.

Course running around trying to save everybody is not very efficient either >.< but meh, it's only a stat to me :D

I was kidding with the 7.

Honestly, I just got the game for PC this week so I have no clue. Had it on xbox but it has been a while. When I had it on xbox, I only played with people I knew. Usually split screen.

I played the leader and the rear, and I honestly prefer the rear. As such, I don't kill every infected I see. I keep my ammo and attention for the ones who threaten to impede the guys up front who slip by, or any specials lurking, since I tend to keep my focus on keeping the path as safe as possible, with as few surprises as possible.

I get much more satisfaction out of playing for the team, and my best and most enjoyable moments are when I am able to avert an otherwise sticky situation because I kept a watchful eye, which would be difficult if I tried to shoot everything that moved. That's what the other guys for ;)

I played cornerback and safety in highschool football, and I loved that position for similar reasons, even if it meant I wasn't getting many TDs. (Yes, one team in our divison were heartless zombies).

i remember i killed 5000 zambies between 10.000 during a all-night-long realism expert dark carnival with rayman mod only zombies but highly increased. if im correct, we retried 40 times...
