You could always... [lmgtfy.com]

"This is very fun for a while but somewhat difficult playing infected.

To enable third person shoulder mode you just open up console using ( ~ )Tilde key and type Thirdpersonshoulder then press enter. Try it out! It takes a bit of tweaking to get third person working flawlessly.

If the console doesn't open up for you then you need to enable the option. Go to options then Keyboard/Mouse then make sure Allow Developer Console is set to Enabled.

In addition here are a few advanced commands to tweak Third Person mode. Just replace # with the number you desire.

c_thirdpersonshoulderheight # will change the height of the camera

c_thirdpersonshoulderoffset # will change how offset the camera angle will be

c_thirdpersonshoulderaimdist # changes the distance of the crosshair"

To play Left4Dead in third person like in the video, open your console (default key ~) and type the following commands in order:

cam_idealpitch 0 (Leave at 0 or the crosshair won't match the shooting direction)
cam_idealyaw 0 (Same as above)
cam_collision 1 (Whether the camera collides with walls so as not to see through them.)
cam_ideallag 0 (How much the camera waits before moving after the mouse is moved. Best left at 0.)
cam_idealdelta 4 (Can't remember right now. Leave at 4. Will edit soon.)
c_thirdpersonshoulderdist 40
c_thirdpersonshoulderaimdist 720 (To which distance the crosshair will be aligned at to shoot accurately. I found this value works really well for most distances except extremely short ones, but in those cases it's a matter of aiming slightly to the side. Low values will align better for really short distances but will greatly affect accuracy at most other distances.)
c_thirdpersonshoulderoffset 20 (How much to the left or to the right of the character the camera is. Might wanna try to experiment with it depending on screen resolution, but 20 works fine in most cases.)
c_thirdpersonshoulderheight 3 (Similar to above only it controls height instead. Feel free to set it to whatever you think is right for you.)
c_thirdpersonshouldersnapto 1 (Best left at 1.)
bind "[Any key you want]" "thirdpersonshoulder; cam_idealdist 30" (First one toggles third person mode. Second sets the distance between the camera and the character. You have to bind it too because it resets every time you toggle third person on and off. Feel free to try different values.)
