Why splitscreen is not native?
I know how to make it work and all, but why did Valve decide to not offer native support?

Clearly you haven't played portal 2 kinky pie, another valve game, which does support splitscreen co-op...natively

And clearly you are not aware of a Steam thing called Big Picture...

Big Picture has nothing to do with split screen functionality of a game. Big Picture Mode is just a new GUI interface for steam.

To use in... wait for it.... the magnanimous TV screen, which is why consoles tend to have split screen, thus making the original argument "because it is a PC, duh" irrelevant. Valve's strategy clearly is to dominate the living room too - which makes L4D2 lacking splitscreen a strange thing - since it is pretty possible and present on the console.

It'll just be a matter of time i'd say. Just like Portal 2's dev added in spltiscreen co-op.
