.bik files not working in a .vpk in the addons folder.
I have a problem, when making my new mod, I had 5 .bik files to replace the menu backgrounds, as well as sound files for menu music, the problem is, the sound files work and the .bik's dont.

Which is very strange, i have the folder directories laid out perfectly and everything works when it's not in the .vpk, but as soon as i pack it and move it into the addons folder, it only uses the sound files and not the .bik's.

Anyone have a clue what's going on?

What do you when you "pack it"?

I do the usual vpk.exe, drag folder onto it.
It's in thet correct position.

yep, ok wanted to make sure that is what you were doing. Are you putting the .bik files in the lfd2 media folder?

Yeah

ok lets go back, what are the steps you are doing. As I'm looking at things you need to replace your 5 .bik files in the media folder and if your .bik has music then you need to replace your main menu files with blank audio..these files are located in sound/music/l4d2 the game should play the audio with the .bik

No, the problem is, the .bik files are silent.
The sound files are playing but the .bik isn't showing in the background.
If i remove those soundfiles, then it will be silent and no background.

I just need to get the .bik files to play in the background but they refuse to

How are you labeling your .bik files? Are you labeling them lfd2_intro, lfd2_background01.bik etc?
SGC_Panda May 14, 2013 @ 8:50am
And are you moving the orig. .bik files to another folder
Sanic May 14, 2013 @ 8:52am
It is all correct,
l4d2_background01.bik

It's running as a .vpk at the moment, original files are present.
Sanic May 14, 2013 @ 8:53am
Also, original backgrounds are present

ok try making a new folder in the media folder and move the originals in there and just have your renamed .bik files and see if that works

Nothing, now it's just the initial loading screen
