Cannot connect to most pinion servers without getting a connection error, or sound stutter freezing. Not a sound driver problem.

or an error sign for a katana! take them off valve!!
Or jocks that get knocked off randomly, or horrible pings, or them never being updated, or having serious and new glitches every single month.

Easy fix is to pay $$ and rent your own server! Not only do you control the updates on the maps etc and have ultimate power......but it`s more likely going to give you better ping than most of these mediocre servers out there! This is what I did and I haven`t looked back since!

They're provided free of charge - quit complaining. If you don't like playing on them use mm_dedicated_force_servers <ip>; console command to force to a server other than pinion. eg. mm_dedicated_force_servers,; you can string multiple ip addresses together separating them by commas.

Edit: to find servers type openserverbrowser into the console and then go to the custom tab -> sort by ping.

No one forces you to play on the servers, I even provided the method to not doing so. I don't see the point in complaining. Using your analogy, you're complaining about the fact that you have the option to touch the jar if nothing else is available to you, but you are by no means forced to touch the jar.

Perhaps I was a bit rash when I posted earlier, I was tired, so I probably came across has grumpy. My apologies. My point wasn't really about the complaining, but that there are tools out there that are simple and easy to use which can help people avoid these servers if they dispise them so much. No one is forced to play on Pinion servers.

Also, the complaints are probably better sent to Pinion rather than posting here since they manage the servers and they probably don't frequent these boards.

Edit: <snip> I just saw that you made a thread outlining the same method, but it appears to be more comprehensive.

Ha my post got deleted, how silly. I have been a moderator at one forum for 12 yearrs, listen young moderators, deleting these posts is silly, ok?

Anywhoo, Pinion servers are all I seem to get as lobby leader. They are everywhere and I shouldnt have to do some special workaround I've never had to do before to get a playable server. I've ran several servers for this game over the years its been around; and I never had my servers in such a bad shape.

They are simply revenue traps, catching hapless players who just want to play the game they paid for, to milk them for ad views. If this wasnt the case the server owners would be much more communicative with the playerbase, and make sure their servers are always updated, with a decent ping.

It's a fairly simple process and I would recommend it regardless of whether you were having issues with servers since you can use it to force the same servers which will give a far more consistent experience anyway. On a sidenote, to only have to do it once you can place the mm_dedicated_force_servers command into an autoexec.cfg in your cfg folder and every time you host a lobby it'll force to those servers in order on the list.

For a few more laughs and tears check out the sourcemod discussion here: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=202511 96 pages and counting

Interesting, I didn't know they did it using a sourcemod plugin, thought it would've been some level of javascript or something since it was all in the motd.
It also explains why they all recently updated.

Not sure what you mean by updated, but if they weren't updated people wouldn't be complaining about them, because when there is a version mismatch you cannot connect to the server and get an error "Was expecting protocol version xxxx got xxyz instead" -or something along those lines.
