How do you use controller?
I'm somewhat new to Steam and I noticed l4d2 has "full controller support". Does this mean I could use my Xbox 360 controller to play l4d2? If so, how? Thanks.

Step 1: Plug your wired 360 controller into a USB port on your PC
Step 2: Start Left 4 Dead 2
Step 3: Play
Step 4: Realize this game works much better with a keyboard & mouse
Step 5: Unplug your wired 360 controller from the USB port on your PC
Step 6: Continue playing using the keyboard & mouse

Using a 360 controller can be fun for a lot of games.... but this isn't one of them. There's too much going on to be a helpful teammate using a controller. Unless you're playing on easy mode.

Just trying to offer some friendly advice. I'm not a PC Elitist ♥♥♥♥♥. I have a 360 & PS3 as well. I enjoy playing this game with a controller occasionally.... but you can be way more effective in this game using a keyboard & mouse.

I believe there's a console command you have to use (dunno it off the top of my head, I'm sure you can easily find it on google though)
That being said Bloody is correct, you're going to gimp yourself if you use a controller, mouse is objectively better for FPS games, and it's worth your time getting used to the set up if you plan to play the game.

It's got to be an actual wired controller, can't be a play and charge kit or something like that.
There's a program microsoft has got up on the web to help you use the controller on the PC, microsoft accessories or something, it's free.
And just plug it into the USB port before you start the game up, then start game and go into options to enable a gamepad then you're golden.
I always use a controller myself.

Oh, I just have the wireless controller with a plug in charger, so that won't work then?

You could probably use a program like xpadder.

Google it, there's a free version. It's basically a program to rebind keyboard/mouse buttons to your controller. So for example you tell the program that A on your controller does the same thing as spacebar.

Np, but keep in mind it will still be worse than just using KB/M, I honestly found it unplayable >_>

this is not true at all. i use a controller as it is easy for me compared to the keyboard. iv never been kicked for bad aim or not keeping up. knowbody can even tell while they spectate. just because your better with a keyboard dosnt mean the gamepad only works on easy mode. what your describing is YOUR preferance and you are attempting to tell other ppl what THERE preferance should be. the keyboard does offer better aim but not enuf to say the gamepad is worthless. im new to steam and i find the keyboard unplayable. dosnt mean i need to tell people they have to play on easy mode unless they use a gamepad. use what feels right to you.
