But Expert is...not fun.
Expert = "Camp the same place every game every day"
You can rush your balls off if you're actually good at this game. Anyone with meager skill can crawl through an expert campaign,
Limited tactical choices? You're only limited by your skill and imagination. I have no problem covering teammates with a Hunting Rifle when playing Expert coop, but every shot has to be exact or I'll incap them. But I like knowing that my actions have immediate consequences. If it didn't matter if I shot them or not, I'd just blindly spam fire towards them without thinking twice about it. Without the added danger of very high damage and death everywhere, Coop would be a complete joke. AI special infected are laughably bad opponents to play against, so at least the common infected will keep you on your feet when they come at you from all sides and you try to fight them off without taking damage. Playing Advanced is like playing with godmode turned on. Where's the fun in getting through each level with green health and no incaps?
But even Expert gets boring, to the point where I'm only entertained playing L4D2 if I'm playing Versus against a good team. Coop is still fun if you have three friends with mics you can talk with for the 90% of the time when it's just clearing out rooms and searching for supplies. But at that point, the game is just an excuse to have a chatroom with your friends. Not that that's a bad thing, as long as your friends are entertaining.
No, you can easily camp somewhere else, some places are just better. There are also many viable spots. E.g. for Dark carnival finale, you can camp on the stage, on either corner of the stands, on top of either platforms, etc, actually you can camp anywhere you want or even run around the whole finale since there are so many gas cans, molotovs and firecrackers to help you kill the zombies.
Also, sometimes you can rush through some of the areas instead of camping. E.g. Swamp fever, the part where you use the lever to activate the small bridge or the other chapter where you open the airplane door, you can actually run all the way to the safehouse instead of camping if you feel like it.
You can definitely play offensive, just that most can't. Slow and steady is easier than rushing.
Of course you shouldn't be shooting through your friend in the back without any penalties, why should you be able to?
Back in the day a single zombie scratch was 20...so imagine a random double scratch taking 40dmg @ 20 per. I dont play any different than i do normally do in Advanced. Other than maybe not being as aggressive with specials. You shouldnt have to camp all day...maybe when the horde rolls in, but other than that just make sure u clear out the common. Cuz its the common that takes most teams out, from what ive seen anyways.
TL:DR Expert is not as bad as you think.
It's the ultimate team experience if you know what you are doing, but the worst trap for new players.
yeah, so? that's the whole point of expert, being hard, so obviously you're not gonna find a grenade and pills around every corner.
no choice on tactics? I take it that you can't play worth ♥♥♥♥ therefore you have to sit in a corner whenever something's happening. try realism expert, or some mutations on expert (hard eight, lone gunman...) then come back again saying expert is hard, and camping is the only viable tactic.
