Can't download game - "The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request"
I purchased L4D2 about 24 hours ago and it wont let me download it, I get the above error. There are a few threads about it, but none go anywhere so hopefully someone can put a working solution here.

I have tried:
- initiating download many times
- deleting local content through Windows file explorer
- deleting ClientRegistry.blob

I have seen one person say "its probably another game, I removed .... and it worked" I don't have the game they removed, so that is not helpful and I'm reluctant to just start uninstalling games.

Does anyone have any further solutions?

Thanks

Restarting steam always fixes this problem for me. have you tried that?
Of course you could try going into steam>settings>downloads tab and change your download location and see if that possibly helps.

I have been able to download other games while receiving the message, and if the servers were really this busy, this forum would be nothing but complaints... guess I'll need dev help.

Mine works in safe mode, so im guessing another program is intefering but i think its a new one not on Steams known list.

Solved for me.

After it failed numerous times, I tried uninstalling l4d2 using windows Program Manager, and it must have removed some weird corrupted version of the installer because it worked after that.
