This wouldn't work with competitive multiplayer but I could totally see it working with Co-Op games such as Left 4 Dead.

It was tried once and it failed, sure a combined account would be nice, but for FPS games no, it's a terrible idea.

It could have already been done with the current gen easily theres just no incentive for them to do it. They dont want PC games to be able to play with their xbox friends without buying their stupid console.

But that was competitive lol. I'm talking about co-op. Borderlands is another great example that would work well between both console and pc because you're all working together.

It is very saddening, honestly. I would LOVE to play with my Xbox friends :/

Well in L4d2's case what would you do, Lock out any versus modes for the xbox players?
Borderlands could work, but that would also require them integrating windows live back into games and the industry finally moved away from that terrible service.

Oh my god GFWL was HORRIBLE! But i'm sure developers could come up with an original IP that would work well between the two.

Xbox is entirely in Microsoft's control, without their approval we will not see a cross play, and I highly doubt they would let any other service other than their own have it. Of course they could rebuild GFWL from the ground up, but it's reputation isn't good now and it would be hard to get people on board unless cross play was really popular (I honestly would never use it, but I'd imagine some people would)

(Also is that your channel, I more or less rewrote my response for the comments there, and there's not much point of debating the subject here and on youtube xD)
