Playing Survival mode offline (with bots)
So, how come the game offers an offline version of the campaign in order to play without need of being connected (therefore playing with your bot survivor partners), but it won't allow me to play survival on my own with the computer with no internet connection? What the hell is this? Please tell me there's a way to do it.... D=

You have to get Steam in disconnect mode before losing you connection.

What do you mean? I already tried playing offline, but it says that servers couldn't be found (meaning I must be connected)=.

I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure launching a map with the console will allow you to play offline (type in 'map cXmX_mapname survival').

But seriously, Survival with bots? You'd have to be some kind of hardcore masochist to enjoy that.

I've played Survival online with other people for long already. I know very well that playing with bots can be insane at times, but I'd just want to be able to enjoy the experience when I go to my house by the beach, with no internet, for instance.

Yeah, I've read that console thing many times, but how is it done? How do I open the console? Please explain it to me step by step^^

You need to enable it in the options, then open it using ~ I think (I have a french kb so I have no idea what the key actually is on a regualr QWERTY), if it fails use -console as a custom launch commandline, google it if you still can't, there are tons of things about that, as well as an entire page of console commands on the L4D wiki.

And then launch a map using the console.

Will do, thanks^^ but apparently, that's not going to solve the problem... my main question was if there was an official way to play Survival on your own offline. It looks like the answer is no. Shame on you, valve.

Thank you anyways, guys =)

You can play survival offline, theres advanced bots or something in workshop, enable that and you can play single player versus, scavenge, surv etc

The improved bots didn't work that well when I used it in survival mode. This was over 2 months ago, but they would leave me or do the randomest movements during gameplay.

The improved bots are improved only slightly. They seem to keep up a little better, but they are still stupid.
