workshop........self explanitory answer
Kotex 21. Okt. 2013 um 14:02
there are SOME things exclusive to l4dmaps. Downloading campaigns from l4dmaps seems to work better. Otherwise the workshop is 1001x faster and easier to use with just about everything l4dmaps has with the exception of a few things.

l4dmaps.com
At least i don't crash when i download a campaign...
L4DMaps. Hands down, every time.
L4DMaps addons do not require you to be online, if downloaded properly they install completely with a simple copy/paste, and custom maps/campaigns are contained in a single .vpk that won't conflict with itself.
You also don't have to worry about deleted content you've subscribed to attempting to verify/update itself endlessly or a mod updating if you don't want it to.
You can also get some good help so long as you dont' ask questions that have been answered 50 times and you're not stupid.

The only reason you should use the Workshop is if there's something there you can't manually download.

Both. I prefer the workshop, as it's much more convenient and faster.

Okay so basically what i've learned here is the workshop is more convenient but l4dmaps.com is more reliable. Did I get this right?
Visi 21. Okt. 2013 um 20:59
Reliable? Mm... debatable. I've never had any issues with the workshop's reliability. This may not be very helpful, but I suggest just using both and seeing which one you personally prefer.
maps. worshop is buged.

l4dmaps, the workshop isn't very good. It's buggy, sometimes addons don't work, it will download content when you're playing without any way to pause it...

I have used both I loved l4dmaps and used it before the workshop but i'm just lost a bit now...okay so how about this which one has a bigger variety of content?
Visi 21. Okt. 2013 um 22:10
Going by just plain individual content placed in the respective locations, L4dmaps has a little more. Some are just different versions of the same things, though. And as for actual variety... that's really difficult to determine given the sheer amount of content.
L4DMaps has been around longer and generally has more varied content. Some of it is older and thus cannot be brought to the Workshop because the original authors have moved on and can't be contacted, or simply don't want to be bothered.
The Workshop is catching up in terms of sheer density, but the content is less focused and finding quality mods among the sea of emerging mods can be difficult. The same could be said of L4DMaps, but the tagging and categorizing system there is much less abused.
While L4DMaps has the bigger amount of missions available, and the new stuff usually appears in L4DMaps first, subscribing to a campaign in Workshop is not only faster an easier it gives u the additional feature of your campaigns being updated once they are changed.
for other kinds of mods like graphics replacements and goofy stuff : i dont care mutch about those. Also maybe funny to somebody, its longterm value is questionable. And every "enhancement mod" likely increase probability of conflicts and troubles. Its an problem hard to come by.

By the other flip of the coin, L4DMaps campaigns come in a single file and have generally smaller sizes. You just have to choose whether you want carefree updating or more efficient packaging.

Well is obvious for me that i prefere carefree. In these times storage space is a no brainer
