Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2

I can't go set the difficulty or map I wanna play in Single Player
So I'm going to play singleplayer, and It doesn't take me to the screen where I can select which character I'd like or what difficulty I'd like, it just shows the drop down menu for the Campaigns, I press one, and then press the map. It's pretty damned annoying, the only way I can go to said menu is pressing Add-on campaign, which only lets me select an Addon campaign (Which I don't have since it conflicts alot of files) and Dead Center. Help me, dammit ;_;.

Do you happen to have the add on for Improved Bots (Advanced) ?
When you choose Single Player from the main menu, you're taken to a screen that has these options:

CAMPAIGN
CHAPTER
DIFFICULTY
CHARACTER
-->START
<--BACK

I'm not sure how you can be arriving at any other screen.

Yes
When you are using the Improved Bots (Advanced) add-on, you select a different character after you start the game by pressing F2 to open a menu, and you select the difficulty after you start the game by pressing F3 to open a menu.

From the Improved Bots (Advanced) Workshop page :

• Control the bots with a few commands. (Press ALT)
• Easily change the map and game mode while in-game. (Press F1)
• Easily take control of another bot anytime during a game. (Press F2)
• Easily change the difficulty of the game at any time. (Press F3)
• Teleport bots back to you if they get lost or stuck. (Press ALT)

• Using bot commands will block Steam achievements for the rest of the campaign you're playing.

" ... as long as you don't use the new radial menus you can still earn Steam achievements. Although, if you don't plan to use the radial menus, you could just use the simple version Improved Bots (Simple) instead."

Ziggy ±PGD*± explained why you can't select your character or difficulty before you start:

"In order to use the advanced options cheats mode must be enabled (sv_cheats 1). However, you are only allowed to enable cheats mode on a listen server. The game can't create listen servers through the default menus, you have to create them manually through the developer's console.

To get around this, I created the new single player menu that does create listen servers. However, the new menu can't remember variables you set, like the original menu can, so I can't allow you to select your character or difficulty from it.

I have no idea why Valve would restrict cheats mode to only be allowed on listen servers, but since they did this is the only way for those features to work."
