Crash after game loading screen
Hello everyone, I have a fairly common problem with a slight twist that I could use some help with. When I try and start a game in L4D2 everything will run fine until the cut scene. Once the opening cut scene begins the screen goes black and if I don't end L4D2 with the task manager quick enough then my whole system goes blue screen then reboots.

Here are my specs:
Machine: Sony Vaio VGN-NW350F laptop
OS: Windows 7 x64 Home Premium service pack 1
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20Ghz 2.20Ghz
Graphics: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

I know it isn't a great graphics card (being internal that is), but there is no way to replace it. Also, it may not be the graphic card's age that is the problem. The particularly confusing part about this issue is that I was able to run L4D2 successfully for several hours after I first installed it (minor lag issues, but that was expected). I was also able to run it after I uninstalled it (and deleted all files associated with it left on my system) and re-installed it. However after closing it and re-opening it it had the same crashing problem. I have verified the game cache and that doesn't seem to help. I've tried running it as an administrator and that was equally unsuccessful. My video drivers are up to date. when I tried running the game in a window the error message "Intel graphics accelerator for win xp has stopped and successfully recovered" appeared, but again if I did not close the game quick enough the whole system would crash.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In case anyone has a similar problem, I was able to fix the game by turning off the hd shaders. I went into properties, launch options and added +r_shadowrendertotexture # (Adjusts Shadow Detail where # is 0 for low and 1 for high). Game booted right up. I also turned on low violence (same launch options just added -lv) and I completely eleminated all lag. The game looks like an N64 game, but hey, at least now I can murder zombies with katanas to my hearts content. Happy playing!

some how all of my mods got turned on and two of them conflicted. if you have mods make sure you don't have conflicts. i turned off the conflicting mod and the game started.
